SPOILERS for sub-chapter 47-2.

How could I even begin explaining the tremendous amount of importance regarding our characters this chapter holds? It's such a fresh breath of resolution between Yoshiki and "Hikaru", putting an ending in uncertainties and assumptions which could be found in "Hikaru" after what happened in the cave. And putting an ending in Yoshiki's hesitation to let his feelings and emotions out and allow himself to be vulnerable in front of his person.

What's stricken me much is the fire of Yoshiki's soul dancing in his eyes with such fleece determination and brightness. I don't think we've ever seen him more determined and certain about anything than the fact that "For him, Hikaru" is the one he loves the most", and that "'Hikaru' is the only one who's ever made it feel easier for him to breathe".

The desperation in his shining eyes as he's letting it all out, finally is striking. It feels like catharsis.

He's decided on Hikaru and letting him know he loves him as well. I love the fact that Yoshiki's pupils are dilated here. He's all for it with everything he has.

I also adore the fact that they communicate using telepathy with "Hikaru" maybe asking something of the sorts of "Do you hate me/Don't you hate me?", and Yoshiki reassuring him gently, intimately and simply with a "Mm? Nah, that's not true".

And "Hikaru" in all this? His sole focus is Yoshiki, not taking his gaze off him for a moment. The fact of it showing emotions even though it's an illegitimate which normally don't express emotions shows how much its human experience has influenced it. And you can see a whole lots of emotions running through it in seconds: Hesitation, uncertainty, devotion, love. He needed to listen to such words so, so much.

also I'm genuinely so happy about yoshiki giving the bone shard back in this context I don't even care if that means he won't fuse with it. hikaru giving yoshiki half of himself to make himself smaller and more palatable and yoshiki giving it back to say "I don't care if you're strange and scary, I still love you anyway"

My hc is that ‘Hikaru’ would grow his hair out to distinguish himself from Hikaru, and also wear flashy clothes bc he likes colorful things ^^ For Yoshiki, I figured I could keep his bangs short but still give him a cool hairstyle. He’d wear dark colors, nature patterns and of course incorporate insects in his clothing.

After my genderbends for TSHD, I’ve been heavily overthinking how the story would play out in each of these scenarios and what Yoshiki and Hikaru’s relationship would be like. So, enjoy my rambling! (Also, I may note: these will be considering that all of them are cisgender)

Both girls: there wouldn’t be much of a change between them. One thing might be that the Indos wouldn’t have a male heir. But maybe og Hikaru would still be worried if her spouse would be taken from her or not.

Fem Yoshiki and masc Hikaru: the Indos curse at full capacity here! Og Hikaru might have done a lot of effort to distance himself from Yoshiki. Forbidden romance vibes, and I’m getting religious trauma allegories as well.

Masc Yoshiki and fem Hikaru: Ppl have pointed out that a lot of the heart of the story would be lost in this scenario, but what if Yoshiki is still gay here? Everyone would try to push them together when in reality they’re just friends, and ‘Hikaru’ would still help Yoshiki accept himself. And!! Bonus points if Hikaru is a lesbian (gay best friends who everyone thinks are a couple!!!)
