John Doe loves Bruce Wayne obsessively, and his world revolves around pleasing Bruce/Batman:

Even though he says he’s not interested in Bruce when you asked him in-game (come on that long pause and thinking?? its a facade.), he threatens to destroy Gotham if Bruce rejects him as a friend.. yet he doesn’t take the rejection too hard with Harley if Bruce is on his side.. this coming from John, who has mentioned how deeply in love he is with Harley throughout the episodes. 

Bruce really, do mean the world to him, and he clearly wants to be an equal..or something even more.

Other things to mention, how he gets upset in episode 4, when he’s afraid that Bruce might get furious at him for the deaths of the agents. He’s not bothered by the deaths, but he is definitely freaking out over disappointing Bruce. 

Nah the subtext was all intentional. In that alley in 202, John may not actually be “in love” with Bruce just yet. Or he can’t quite bring himself to acknowledge it at that point.

It’s widely accepted in this fandom that England raised America. If you’ve ever seen or, unfortunately, got caught up in a shipping war concerning UsUk, it’s an argument I can guarantee you’ve seen be thrown around.  

However, that argument is one I want to call into question. Because, the thing is…England DIDN’T raise America.

Throughout this analysis, I will cover why the two don’t qualify as an adopted family relationship. Both Hetalia canon and historical information will be used. I will also use this perspective to analyze the two as separate characters. All translated images used here are from hetarchive and hetascanlations.

One more thing! This analysis is not intended to convince you of anything as far as shipping is concerned. Whether England raised America and whether the UsUk relationship is romantic are two distinct topics. I have many motivations for writing this analysis. Trying to tell you what to ship is not one of them.

after trying to answer this concisely, I found out that i had a lot of thoughts.

So have a meta about Padparadscha’s wish for death, Rutile’s insecurities and why Padpa came back to Rutile.

Im not talking about joker as a character, you can do anything you want with him, he’s practically satan despite his condition and deserves most things comming to him, I’m talking about the infatuation itself.

I don’t want it portrayed as predatory or disgusting or evil, i want it to be the one remaining glittering speck of good, innocence, weakness and humanity within the absolute trashpile that is his character

But how much he loves Batman? The lengths he will go (rarely healthy lengths but yknow) and the passion in his twisted, fragile heart? The self destructive obsession and yearning? Yeah, that I can relate to. Scarily so. Disordered emotions (which I headcanon that he has, diagnosic criterium for personality disorders) can do that to you.

Of all the things he does, has done, will do, I don’t think his infatuation is evil. I don’t. I think the only person it really hurts is himself, and that pain is addicting when you know there will be no payoff. And the next thing you know you’re as addicted to the self deprecation as the subject of your infatuation. That’s not evil, that’s not a deliberate attempt to cause others harm, that’s maladaption. True he does maim and kill in an effort for Batman’s attention but he does it a hell of a lot more anyway. If his infatuation ever dissapated, he’d still be a violent killer, because he does it to amuse himself more than anything else, in my opinion.

Many people see Lust as evil and taboo, especially if it’s anything but heteronormative.

Most DC writers see Joker as Lustful madman who turns any romantic relationship into something filthy and disgusting. (Case and point. Harly Quinn. But that’s another story.

However, Joker loving Batman does not have to be some dark obsession that can’t ever be filled.

@thefxrgxttensaint raised a really interesting parallel between the latest chapter and chapter 16. I personally just like to think of it as antarc serving the eternal tea no matter where they are in the universe ☕️

Instead, they almost reversed the trope.

They marketed Gabby Gabby as a villain upfront (which was more in line with the obvious villains of the Disney Renaissance: Frollo, Scar, Ursula, Hades, etc…) by showing the clip of her noticing Woody’s pull-string, and in several less public venues they revealed her “villainous” plan of needing Woody’s voice box.

However, I was surprised and delighted that not only did they give her a strong and clear-cut motivation for her actions … but they were actually quickly and successfully able to drum up enormous sympathy for her as well.  It’s amazing really.  They wrote it in such a way that Woody (and by extension, the audience) doesn’t feel any animosity towards Gabby when she finally convinces him to give her his voice box.

So instead of a “good guy” being revealed as a twist villain, here we have a “villain” who is revealed as a twist good guy (or at the least, a very sympathetic character).
