Having your interests mocked as a kid and general low self esteem will have you insulting the things you like even when they're generally considered very good. Because you like it, and historically when you like something it's stupid and not worth anyone's time. So you will say nonsense like "I recommend this book/game/film, but it's okay if you hate it, it sucks, I really enjoyed it but that's because I'm an idiot" and you are recommending them the Citizen fucking Kane of that particular media type. Imagine Chuck stopped publishing books after the Dean goes to hell plot line (as said in 5x09) because he put Cas in, didn’t like him, but then couldn’t get him out of the story. Imagine he then tried to kill him, wrote season 5 without him and everything, but at that, Dean gave up. The story ended. It ended bad. So he brought Cas back. Over and over and stupidly over because he just couldn’t get rid of him. In every single instance once Dean met Castiel, he was lost without him, because how can you be given faith only to lose it? And the fact that Dean can’t just have faith on his own, the fact that Dean’s first trust in anything good was Cas, is exactly where Chuck shot himself in the foot. And for all of that Chuck hates him.
