People on this website will dislike a character and legitimately start talking like Jafar.

what’s weird is like. god. fire & blood is not great. but it is literally more competent than the show has been this season, i am sorry. and if they followed it closer this season would have been better. like for example. rosby-stokeworth incident. rhaenyra has this conflict around inheritance where she as queen has to decide between oldest daughters inheriting those lordships and younger sons. and daemon is in favor of the daughters, with this idea of marrying them to hugh and ulf and keep them loyal by giving them lordships, but corlys says no, if you do this, and set this precedent of female primogeniture as principle of law, you will lose the support of the lords of the realm who are attached to male primogeniture. and she sides with corlys. and that is both like, having to compromise principles for the sake of power, in a sympathetic way that highlights so many of her difficulties here, AND it sets up hugh and ulf’s betrayal better than what the show tries to do there. it’s an actually basically compelling political conflict for rhaenyra’s reign as queen. WHY just leave that on the table?? nothing else she’s done all season even comes close to being as engaging. drop that…for what????? you would have interesting stuff for her, daemon, and corlys, when often they’ve all had absolutely nothing of interest going on onscreen instead or been absent from the narrative entirely, and she could talk about this with alicent, and it would be a thematically rich kind of conversation that loops back in so many of the issues of their relationship and histories. literally it is just handed for you to make interesting with the particular versions of these characters and relationships you have set up!! it’s that kind of unforced error that is like boggling my mind.

If you’d told me two years ago that by the end of Season 3 the only storyline I actually enjoyed watching involved GWAYNE HIGHTOWER I’d never have believed it

Could the writers have conjured up even 20% of this creative energy for the other storylines? No? Okay 😔
