First of all, she never confesses her feelings to Blake or makes them explicit for the audience. Just some "totally gay but not saying it so homophobes don't get mad" sort of scenes. Ilia's confession also acts as a mirror to Yang mourning Blake's absence that same episode, we even see Ilia's eyes turn red it's pretty intentional. Considering her feelings for Blake are a key part of her character, it's utterly baffling to exclude this. What makes this even weirder is every other character that gets to be openly queer (Saffron, Terra, Robyn, May, Clover, Blake and Yang) aren't subject to these Hays-Code ass censorships

Ilia and Blake get into a heated argument in Volume 4 about faunus rights and what to do about humans. I mostly liked the argument, until Ilia said she'd commit genocide against humanity if that's what it took to keep the faunus safe. You could argue it's to make her extremism stronger to make her redemption more "earned" by making her go further than canon. But seriously considering genocide in any context is WAY past redemption if you ask me. Maybe I'm being too harsh on this I don't know

The attack on the Belladonna household happens at the end of Volume 4 but is otherwise unchanged outside of some small details of the action and Blake and Ilia's argument. Ilia ends the volume getting arrested and sent to prison alongside the other attackers

Throughout Volume 5 Ilia helps Blake, more than she does in canon. She helps Blake piece together the Fang's attack on Haven, takes out the bombs just like canon, and fights Adam alongside Blake and Sun

Despite this, Ilia gets sent back to prison right after Volume 6's first episode. Woo a "realism" rewrite even though Ilia did more for the heroes than canon. I guess the genocide line stuck in Blake's head or something. She didn't even do anything worse than canon, hell her attacking Sun was completely removed due to that scene in V4 getting deleted

Arslan in Fixing RWBY is Lionheart's niece and was a rival for Pyrrha during her Mistral tournament days. Arslan is pretty bitter about this because a lot of people assume that Lionheart's been pulling strings to make her look better and that she's only as "good" as she is out of nepotism which is completely false. Especially with Pyrrha beating her every time despite being a nobody with zero relations to any big figures which only makes Arslan look even worse in the public's eye

Arsland is also flat out racist. Not to faunus, but to NPR due to them being ethnically descended from smaller nations that Mistral swallowed up which makes them not "true" Mistralians in her eyes

In Volume 3 teams RWBY and JNPR have their round 1 fights switched from canon due to Cinder rigging every match possible from past grudges for the sake of the plan. So RWBY fights BRNZ and JNPR fights ABRN for the Arslan grudge. After losing, Arslan breaks down in tears over her frustrations over everything which ends up being more fuel of negativity for the Fall of Beacon

Come Volume 5 and Arslan has a talk with RNJR about what happened with Pyrrha, with the truth about Cinder killing her coming out. With Arslan wanting to beat/kill Cinder to prove her superiority over Pyrrha post-mortem

And then here comes Volume 6. Toward the end of the volume 6 Arslan stumbles on Cinder fighting Melanie and separates herself from her team to fight her. Cinder kills her within seventeen seconds of narration, I counted. She didn't even put up a good fight, she does by far the worst out of anyone that ever fought Cinder, she was a speedbump at most. We don't even see her teammates' reaction to this because she ran off from them

Some of these people criticize the heroes in V5 staying at a house, doing absolutely nothing when there’s serious things going on. And yet some of these same people are a-okay with the heroes just goofing off with the man that deadass tried to murder them many times in some crappy hot springs episode trope.

In canon, Ren and Nora were ready to fight Oscar when they first met b/c from their POV, he’s some random stranger that asked for Ruby (who was basically being targetted by Salem’s crew at that point). Meanwhile in this Fix It rewrite, the heroes attack Roman until he reveals he has Oz with them and suddenly everyone is like, “Oh okay, cool!” and that’s about it. Literally no tensions at all, despite the fact that at the end of the day, their enemy is right there.

So canonically, the heroes were ready to beat up a 14 y/o just for asking for Ruby (and also be :/ towards him later on as Ozpin reveals himself). But right after the Ozpin reveal in this particular rewrite, everyone is suddenly trusting of Roman to the point of chilling with him. Even though this is also the same person who’s tried to kill the heroes many times. *coughs* Bad writing!! *coughs twice*

The sad part is that I’ve read a couple of AU/canon divergent fics that have done the “Oz reincarnates into Roman” concept and they’re 100 times better than what Fixing RWBY is doing with it. For all the focus this rewrite gives to Roman Torchwick, everything I’ve heard about him in that rewrite sucks.
