I was trying to give Fixing RWBY an honest shot just so I could best have my own arguments concerning it, and while I still plan to make my way through it i was using nitter to scroll through his posts on twitter and found out that he has repeatedly targeted @tumblingxelian personally. And not in the sense of discussion or concern like my work on hbomerguy’s video—no, this is mean. Spiteful. You can tell by the posts and the thumbnails alone that this is not about anything but being angry someone makes an effort to regularly praise the parts of RWBY they love.
Any good faith i was attempting to go in with (on principle, and to have the most objective criticisms of the material rather than merely taking common FNDM criticisms as my own) has been lost by this discovery.
To me this is far more damning of his character than a shitty fanfic.

Celtic Phoenix LOVES the Atlas military. Clearly he believes they should be the solution to everything with how easily they deal with shit that bodies the main cast
At their best, in canon the Atlas military is incompetent outside of dealing with a few fodder grimm at a time. At their worst they're active antagonists if not straight up villains due to their nationalism and militaristic chains of command. Assuming they haven't had their tech hijacked or hacked either
In Fixing RWBY though you better believe they carry everything
During the Breach in canon, while the Atlas military did help against the grimm, the student huntsmen already had things pretty under control. They only contributed to stopping the Breach, they didn't save the day when all odds looked impossible
In FRWBY, RWBY, JNPR, CFVY, SSSN, CRDL, Glynda, Oobleck, and Port are getting overwhelmed by the grimm army and retreat. But worry not because the Atlas military is here to singlehandedly dave the day! They set up a light barrier perimeter around the grimm and kill them all
In canon Ruby's Silver eyes keeps the Leviathan occupied and frozen long enough for Cordovin to inflict a finishing blow, there's a good chance she would have lost without Ruby's help due to the damage the mech sustained from the previous battle
In FRWBY the main cast is getting overwhelmed by a grimm army. Ruby is considering using her silver eyes to solve the problem, which is bad because if she does she might forget everything due to silver eyes in this rewrite erasing the user's memories. But worry not because the Argus military is here to singlehandedly save the day! They arrive and get things under control, while the main cast fly to Atlas. According to Jaune in V7 they would have just made things even worse if they stayed
In canon Qrow, Clover, and Robyn work together to take out Tyrian after Ironwood announces the existence of Amity and Salem
In FRWBY, JNR chase him down after he assassinates Robyn. He surrenders without a fight without a fight because Qrow and Clover arrive with a bunch of Atlas military fodder as backup. One, that's lame as hell. Two, you fucking serious Celtic? You had a perfect opportunity to either show JNR's growth or give us a similar fight as canon, and you rob it from us with the military?
There's a line Whitley said in canon V4 that was completely gutted from FRWBY because Celtic cut it to "save for later." He in fact did not retain this scene for V7
The quote in question: "What can a single Huntsman possibly do that an army cannot?"
Celtic took that line and ran with it, but also completely cut it and the scene it originates in. The Atlas military saves the day at The Breach, Argus, and they effortlessly capture Tyrian. Completely takes away from the MAIN CHARACTERS, the HUNTSMEN THAT THE SHOW IS ABOUT, for some pro-military propaganda
This entire writing trend reads like a military propaganda film. "Look at how COOL and AWESOME the army is they easily dealt with those monsters unlike those LAME TEENAGERS, sign up right here to become just as efficient!"
Even taking away the propaganda angle, this shit's antithetical to the type of series RWBY is. Imagine if in Naruto the fodder shinobi army actually beat Madara after he first came back as an Edo Tensei. Imagine if in Dragon Ball the Frieza fodder turn traitor and overwhelm Frieza with numbers killing him. Imagine if in Fairy Tail the nameless magic council fodder beat anybody important from the Balam alliance. Imagine if in Endgame Thanos got overwhelmed by the fodder Wakanda soldiers and died to them instead of Tony's snap. That would be lame as shit
We the audience don't give a shit about nameless, faceless, canon fodder because those shows aren't the type of stories where they even SHOULD matter. So why the FUCK do the nameless, faceless, Atlas fodder save the day in TWO out of the seven volumes of FRWBY, and capture Tyrian a member of Salem's inner circle, instead of the HUNTSMEN MAIN CHARACTERS. It's an intentional choice of the writing that the canon fodder is canon fodder and aren't meant to be relevant. Making the fucking military so much stronger than the main characters and easily deal with threats that overwhelm them doesn't FIX RWBY, it DESTROYS it
Can't wait for the Atlas military to overwhelm Salem's immortality with sheer numbers and actually kill her in FRWBYV8 ending the series. Meanwhile RWBYJNRQRN will sit on the sidelines saying "Wow, I love the Atlas military. Maybe if I joined I could be as strong and cool as nameless grunt #63 over there," eating popcorn as Atlas saves the day
Finally able to post this after 2 months.
So, being a regular on the FRWBY art crew (Sketchy Huntsmen as we're called), they reached out for a little hype piece as we approach the next volume for Fixing RWBY (V7). https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H8yZFujRR2o
I did a simple group shot of the lead crew. My main goal being to show off the major redesigns for this fan project. So I was thinking of One Piece, specifically the Strawhat's group shot in the 13th anime opening.
This was my 1st time drawing most of these designs in this level of detail & refinement. So it was a neat way to get a better feel for them.
Anyway, between this & working on art for the volume itself is part of why I've been art MIA for a while (The other reason is the Hundred Line & me trying to check out as many endings as possible)

Where does FRWBY get off claiming to be “fixing?”
I have made a truly harrowing discovery…
So, I’ve been avoiding watching the Fixing RWBY series for a long while under the assumption that it would skew how I write my own fic, and I wanted it to be mostly my own. I know how a lot of the fandom feels about FRWBY and while I don’t necessarily dislike it story-wise, I find myself getting uncomfortable with its foundation of “RWBY is awful and needs to be changed for the better”
That being said, I just now found out about a major change in FRWBY that the fandom I’ve seen has had a very overtly negative response to: Roman and Oz
To keep it brief, Celtic effectively made Roman an anti hero and Oz a villain…
The SSAU was also gonna do that 😓
I’ll write more on it in the near future, but my plan was to have Roman survive the fall of beacon by unlocking his semblance (one that he can’t turn off/would absolutely hate to have) and lay the seeds for Oz to be more of an overbearing “good must win at any cost” figure similar to Ironwood.
I’m not changing my plot because of this discovery, mind you. I’ve got my own reasons for going with the plot that I’ve outlined and I’m hoping when we get to that point it’ll feel like a satisfying development.
To any who absolutely despise FRWBY in the ways I’ve seen from r/RWBY… have mercy on me
Took a small Tetro break because I had the chance to work on some episodes of Fixing RWBY! I've been following RWBY since middle school so it was super fun to contribute to a fan project like this :D especially for such a tense episode today!
