Trans man Richard St Vier is a headcanon I cherish dearly. i think that part of the tension in shane and ilya’s dynamic comes from shane believing (and assuming ilya also believes) that they’re pretty evenly matched when it comes to overall hockey skill, while ilya knows that shane is better
