GOD HE BREAKS MY GAY LITTLE HEART for such a slapstick comedy character I didn't expect how much this plotline would resonate.

In the manga, the Hirose's girlfriend thing is done with very quickly. I'm enjoying the perspective and the time the anime is taking to really delve into it.

The scene of this kid who already feels so othered and upset walking through and seeing all the straight, happy couples the same day he finds out the boy he's hopelessly crushing on has a girlfriend.

Makes me so upset seeing that little gay anime boy cry so hard made me feel so much dread. It's a surprisingly realistic take on everything for an anime that's so silly usually.

He's so alone. It makes me angry how alone he is. He deserves the ability to talk to his family at least or just be able to have an honest conversation with anyone. I know his own social anxiety is a huge part in why he doesn't have genuine conversations, but he's so expressive in his home and it irritates me that no one is taking the time to help him out. His family kind of fails him in this regard lol. With the end scene being his still room, listening in on Kana and his mother's conversation. Kana, completely unbothered by him running off in the middle of the night, and his mother, concerned but still not going after him immediately, both fail him in this moment. The whole episode I was just hoping someone would have a genuine conversation with this kid 😭😭😭
