TMNT Headcanons!

For characters that aren’t in-show (i.e. Reader, an OC), please specify their relationship to the characters.

Tumblr isn’t letting me put this with the list above, but please don’t spam me if I don’t respond to your request soon! Chances are I’m busy, but I’ve read it and will get it out ASAP!

Also please don’t send more than five requests at one time. I love writing, but sometimes a big work pile can stress me out! You can always request them when my inbox opens up again.

Scenarios/oneshots (They take longer to write, and it’d burn me out quick. Maybe if this blog gains some traction and I feel inspired, I’ll try one!)

Requests with characters not in TMNT 2012 (I haven’t gotten around to watching anything else, sorry. If this is the only rule your request breaks I’ll still write it [as long as the character/s are also in TMNT 2012], but the character/s will be written with their 2012 personality.)

Things I Will Write:

Light romance (Quick pecks, “I-love-you’s”, cuddling, etc.)

Darker topics (Self harm, anxiety, depression, etc. If you have a specific disorder or mental illness you want me to write about, let me know and I’ll do some research! I absolutely will not write out suicide (ex. reader commits suicide), but I will write about being suicidal.)

LGBTQIA+ (I’m part of it myself, so I’d love some requests with the community!)

Honestly, most of my writing isn’t requests/reader scenarios. I usually write one shots or fan fictions with multiple chapters. Transferring that to the typical bullet point format of headcanons was really tough at first.

How do you think the turtles + April, Splinter and Casey would help a friend get over smn/get through a breakup? Preferably headcanons bc i have an attention span of like -3 seconds and they're short hhdjsjdnndnx

Thank you. It’s been a rough couple of days, but I’m starting to get better. :)

I usually only do up to four characters, but I’ll make these shorter than normal and do all of them.

I think Leo would give you space, but the second you hint that you want to open up, he’s right there.

Even if you go the “I need to be alone” route, you’ll ‘coincidentally’ find things in your room that you’ve wanted or would be therapeutic for you. (Think a beanbag to throw at the wall or a coloring book.)

If you open up, prepare to feel 10x better afterward. Leo’s not the leader for nothing- he’s amazing at pep talks.

Mikey is, per usual, a ball of sunshine about it.

He can see how much it’s affecting you, and he feels terrible about it, so expect a lot more hugs and shared pizzas when you’re at the lair.

To him, it’s easier to get over someone when you’re having fun.

I can see Raph helping the most through the anger portion- whether that’s being angry at your ex or just angry in general.

You’re always welcome to work out with him. (And if you spar, he’ll let you win by a hair to feel more confident. But he’ll never admit it.)

And of course, he’s open to just talking with you about it. He may be a hot-head, but he’s still an older brother at heart.

When it comes to Donnie, be prepared to see a Therapist Turtle in action.

You don’t have a conversation with him for the next two weeks without him mentioning how amazing you are, how you’ll be able to find someone else (if you want to, of course), how you’ll make it out okay, and just a whole lot of Inspiring Quotes.

It was annoying at first, but once you start to let yourself believe him, the more you cherish those moments.

April is the ultimate emotional support.

You’re angry at your ex? FUCK THEM! You don’t think you can find anyone else? HELL YEAH YOU CAN! YOU’RE PRETTY AS FUCK!

You have a dance party with her at least twice a week. They may be cheesy, but they’re the best fun you’ve had for a while and a nice distraction.

Splinter is tracking you down the instant he learns you’re going through a breakup.

When he finds you, he forces a cup of your favorite tea in your hands and starts his speech.

It’s a bunch of “it may hurt, but it will pass” and “it’s normal to grieve, even though they aren’t dead”.

Will also let you cry in his shoulder

Honestly, Casey avoids you.

He’d like to help, but he doesn’t know what to say, or if him being there would even help you.

If you let him know you’d like to talk to him, prepare yourself for the most heartfelt things Casey has ever said to anyone. There are many points where you wonder if they’re even the same person.

Oooo this is about to be so self-indulgent it’ll give me cavities.

TW: Periods, pain, painkillers.

The absolute first time you had your period around him, you didn’t mention it.

But Mikey could sense the mood change a mile away. He may be dumb about some things, but emotions aren’t one of those.

He asked you what was up, but after you gave him the good ol’ “nothing, don’t worry”, he knew something was up.

And what was his solution? A fuck ton of sugar, especially chocolate. (And some pizza, of course.)

In his excitement, he forgot to knock on your door, and when he entered you were in the middle of a huge, painful cramp- curled up in your bed, eyes shut, the whole bit.

Of course Mikey freaked out, throwing the food on your desk and rushing over.

You realized there was no hiding it anymore, and decided to give him the whole “I’m having a period, here’s what that is, please don’t freak out too bad I’m not dying” speech.

His face grew paler and paler the longer you went on, and you had to resist the urge to laugh.

Poor, sweet Mikey, who now, by the way, will stick around you even more for one specific week a month.

You need water? Cool! Warm or cold?

You need a heating pad? Sure! You want it warm or scalding?

You need some painkillers? Absolutely! Which one?

You need a cuddle buddy? You don’t need to ask twice before you’re enveloped in a therapeutic turtle.

Me taking forever to answer asks is probably a given by now, so I hope I don’t sound disingenuous by saying how sorry I am for taking so long once again. 😅

I’m going to write this so you can interpret your relationship with Donnie, because I think he’d treat everyone pretty much the same (unless you’re an enemy to the turtles or something).

Also, I know I search for these kinds of headcanons when I’m in a bad head space, so I hope you know that it’ll all turn out fine in the end, even if things are extremely rocky right now. You’ve got this.

Okay, onto the headcanons!

When he first finds you, he’s very scared. It’s hard not to freak out when someone else is.

He does his best to keep it under control, however- him freaking out would only worsen things

He’s big on talking

A lot of “hey, I’m right here,” “just listen to my voice,” “you’re safe,” etc.

If you signal that you’re fine with it, he’ll sit next to you and drape his arm around you

Even if you say you don’t need anything, he’ll call for one of his brothers to bring a glass of water

It helps to calm you down and gets you a bit more hydrated

Also insists you take a nap after you’ve calmed down

Won’t speak a word about it afterward if you don’t want him to

He’s dealt with his own panic attacks before and knows how embarrassing it can be when it’s brought up without the person’s permission

Will do his best to help with the cause of the panic attack, even if it’s general anxiety

Goes so far as to make sure you have limited contact with your triggers

Won’t hesitate to call out his brothers for mentioning a trigger or making a comment about them
