all her skins (including legendary skins) also have a black (or blue, on dawn) cloth or bandana tied around her arm just above the elbow, or have sleeves that cover this area

my theory is that this armband covers a seam for a cybernetic limb, and here’s why

-it explains why the burn is deeper on her right arm: a prosthetic wouldn’t heal, and a synthetic covering for a prosthetic would both burn darker than skin and likely not be repaired cosmetically in a war zone

-it ties into her distrust for omnics and cybernetics, as not only does she need to have the very thing she hates, it likely would’ve been caused directly as a result of the omnic crisis

-zarya’s animations heavily favor her right arm, with the main weight of her cannon being supported on that side for her cannon grip, melee attack in first person, and sit emote, compared to one pose that favors the left, being her check out this gun victory pose, which is also supported by her body

-doomfist, a man who made his fortune on prosthetics, taunts zarya about the limits of a human’s strength alone in their interactions, despite her having almost no reason for talon to care about her
