Wanted to join in for agepril and spread a little joy! Not all regressors are the same, we come in every size, color, disability and gender. No matter who you are or how you regress, youโre valid and loved! Thanks to @mitsukkii for coming with this lovely event!
My personal experience:
TL;DR? It works. I'm a person who's been living with POTS for a little over a year now. Doctors consider my case "abnormally severe," as even changes in resting posture affect me (rolling around, sitting up in bed, etc makes me lightheaded or faint). I've always been a huge Gatorade lover, even before my diagnosis, but I can (without bias) report that drinking it on hot, lazy days seems to always perk me up a bit. I've never been the most hydrated, but after drinking the travel-sized bottles of Gatorade Zero (#notsponsored) daily, I started using the bathroom the doctor recommended 3-5 times a day! Other than my toilet habits, I can confidently report a decrease in lightheadedness and fainting!
But wait, what's POTS?:
Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome, POTS, is part of a group of disorders that feature orthostatic intolerance [1], that being, a medical condition wherein a person's blood pressure drops when they are standing up (orthostasis) or sitting down [2]. Your nervous system is constantly working to keep your blood pressure homeostatic (in a stable internal environment). Usually, when a person stands, their autonomic nervous system "tells" blood vessels in the lower body to constrict, working against gravity to keep blood from pooling in their legs and ensuring a steady flow to their brain [3]. For whatever reason (the exact cause is unknown), in POTS patients, the nervous system fails to "tell" blood vessels in our lower bodies to constrict, causing the blood to drop down to our lower bodies and fail to reach our brains. In response, our hearts begin to beat rapidly to try and maintain a regular blood flow, resulting in heart palpitations, instability, lightheadedness, dizziness, fainting, fatigue, chest pain, and a whole lot of other unpleasant symptoms.
What does Gatorade have to do with this?:
Gatorade (and many sports drinks) have become a staple in dysautonomia communities- but why? Sports drinks are full of electrolytes to replenish what athletes lose in sweat. One serving of Gatorade (lemon-lime) contains 80 milligrams of potassium and 270 milligrams of sodium [4] (which, compared to other drinks, is a significant amount). According to multiple studies, sodium increases plasma volume, lowers standing plasma norepinephrine (a hormone which affects your nervous system and heart beat), and decreases rapid changes in heart rate (ฮHR) in POTS patients [5]. POTS patients are also typically dehydrated and have electrolyte imbalances. Potassium, an electrolyte, helps with both problems. Electrolytes like potassium help transmit nerve impulses, contracting muscles, and maintain a fluid balance within the body. [6]
Conclusion:
Sports drinks like Gatorade are usually helpful to POTS patients. However, these drinks can be high in sugar content, which can be problematic for some people. There are plenty of edible alternatives for orthostatic patients to explore, such as salt chews, electrolyte drinks, liquid IV, and even plain old crackers.
our server is for mentally ill, traumatized, and disabled age regressors. we create, find, and share educational mental and physical health resources (everything is cross posted to this blog!)
Iโm a Gatorade lover through and through (especially the sugar free), but my favorite thing for my POTS is Vitassium salt capsules!
Theyโre capsules instead of tablets so they donโt taste salty like most salt pills/mixes.
Theyโre super helpful! I take three salt capsules three times a day (coming to a total of 9 capsules a day). You can buy in bulk or set up a schedule so that theyโre shipped to you monthly. Also I think you can get a discount if you use them for medical uses (like POTS).

our server fully supports padded regressors and anyone who uses incontinence products :P
we're geared towards differently abled age regressors, of course we support that. people can use pads, pants, and diapers for a number of reasons, especially physically disabled folk with less control of their excretory system.
i knew it was a contreversial subject because a lot of agere servers are especially sensitive and can't get over the "ew potty talk nasty :(" mindset, but honestly it's just downright (ignorant at best, and) ableist.
disabled people should be allowed to speak about their conditions without fear.

we're an up and coming SFW age regression server / blog with a focus on physically & mentally disabled, trauma survivor, and mentally ill age regressors (หแห )
โฐ but we're not open yet, because we need your help !
we're working on adding some optional descriptive rolesโ things like "i experience chronic pain" or "i experience chronic dry eye." these can be used alongside our existing (also optional!) disability and mental illness roles.
that said... we can only come up with so many on our own (๏พฯ๏พ๏ผ)
so, if you have any ideas for roles you'd like to seeโ especially ones that describe your symptoms or experiencesโ let us know! you can comment here, DM us, or reach out to evilchuu on discord for more info. you can also check out our blog for updates and details.
