It’s Fossil Friday, so soar into the weekend with Archaeopteryx! When this dinosaur was first described in 1861, it caused a sensation. Discovered shortly after Charles Darwin proposed the theory of evolution by means of natural selection, Archaeopteryx provided an example of evolution in action—a fossil that showed the transition between reptiles and birds. The first Archaeopteryx fossils ever found included exquisitely preserved skeletons with clear imprints of wings and feathers, but also teeth and a bony tail. Today, scientists think Archaeopteryx wasn’t able to fly very well, but the species still represents a turning point in paleontologists’ understanding of the relationship between ancient dinosaurs and modern birds in the design of both its body and brain. Beelieve it or not, this blue bee is the real deal! 🐝 Meet the blue carpenter bee (Xylocopa caerulea). This large bee can reach lengths of up to 1.1 in (2.8 cm); compare that to a European honey bee which typically grows up to 0.7 in (1.8 cm) long! Unlike honeybees, this critter doesn’t live in large hives, but instead spends most of its time alone. This insect can be found in parts of India, China, and Southeast Asia where it plays an important role in pollinating its habitat. 

Spike wasn’t the reason, he was the consequence

I don’t know how many times Buffy had to state in the show that being with Spike after she got resurrected made her feel better for the people to finally get it

The more time she spent with him the more addicted she got to that state of oblivion, of complete disregard of the reality around her

She could forget about her issues, about her trauma, about her ptsd, about her responsibilities, about heaven

But the longer you ignore the problem the bigger it becomes

Buffy was going through a lot of stages of self destruction in that season and in a way the way she treated him during the affair was a part of that

She wouldn’t allow love to be a part of this, nothing had to exist… just pleasure and escape

The self hatred made it feel wrong, and something that was supposed to be the fix of all her problems became addiction she started losing control of

Now, the way she ends things is because she cares

“Buffy had no feelings for Spike in s6” oh but she did

Because a person that feels nothing would not stop using someone just to not hurt them more, just to not be weak and to finally get better

Buffy felt enough to make it right, to explain, to open up, to say “sorry”

And that was her finally recognizing the consequences of her mental state and realizing that the cure is not the drug, even if it makes you feel good

That you cannot use another being like that because it is not right, that you have to make the step yourself

And so once Buffy breaks things off with Spike, it’s not what finally makes her feel better

cause think about it, if Spike got his own soul back it means it existed somewhere all this time

William was a good man, innocent person who’s never done any harm and of course his soul went to heaven after he got turned

it hurts not only because the soul feels all the guilt over the death and murder the demon inflicted but also because it got violently pulled out of a good and safe place, it was at rest

just like Buffy was… Buffy didn’t exist in another form but as a soul after she died. Her body was still in the ground

imagine her asking him more questions about how it feels? asking “do you think your soul was in heaven?” and him looking all confused at her because he didn’t really think about it

because he didn’t think it through once he made the decision to go get it back; he didn’t think he’ll be disrupting William’s rest

Buffy made peace with the fact she has to live again now and heaven will have to wait for her ( though I’m sure still subconsciously doubting if she will get there again in the end )
