when you look cute in a snapchat and they donât reply
Plague inc is getting harder and harderâŚ
âwhy canât female heroes kick arse in heelsâ because itâs not practical and will literally snap your damn ankle you can scream weaponised femininity all you want but first off, you need to admit that theyâre not an almighty symbol of empowerment, and secondly that if you do a job with a lot of physical activity in heels youâre risking your own safety. all these women fighting in heels on tv are going to end up seriously injuring themselves.Â
weaponised femininity is a concept made up in an attempt to get us to embrace the industries created to hold us back/profit from our insecurities so that we can continue to fit into the male expectation of what a woman should be and not question why we are forced to spend thousands on our appearance every year
just a small anecdote. I had a friend who worked in theater; she was the stage manager and an actress came to her in tears one day because the director absolutely refused to let her do a choreographed fight scene in less than 3 inch heels because âtheyâre platforms so youâll be okay.â My friend, who is a womanâs size 10, brought her own heels in the next day and DEMANDED the director put them on and try the choreography before the actress did it. He finally agreed to change it, without putting the heels on.
so like I know you might think of âall those women on tv fighting in heelsâ as fictional woman who WOULD hurt themselves in real life, but its fiction so its okayâŚexcept those women are portrayed by real actresses who are actually fighting in actual heels, being directed by dudes who have never worn a pair of heels in their lives, alongside men who arenât expected to constantly wear things that make their stunts 2x more dangerous than they have to be. Just a thought.
Men take âletâs see feminine women being badassâ to mean âletâs see women impractically focused on their appearance in combat situations.â
Thatâs why I loved Black Panther even more Nakia took off her heels and used them as weapons and was running and driving around barefoot in that one scene
A number of stuntwomen have spoken out about getting injured on sets because the character is wearing heels and skimpy clothing that provide no protection or padding. It literally harms rl women.
https://amp.theguardian.com/film/2016/jun/29/why-stuntwomen-are-in-more-danger-than-men
The only way I wanna see a women fight with heels is if she takes them off and fights with them a la Mulan/Nakia style.
sorry i canât hear the noise of male entitlement over the sound of Evangeline Lilly and every other woman sighing in frustration
They photoshopped the heels onto wonder woman. Not even Gal Gadot could fight in them, but it was so important to The Look⢠that they frame by frame added them. Gal wore flats to the red carpet in protest.
My high school had a dress code that required skirts and pantyhose/tights for girls. Our male gym teacher insisted ten minutes was more than enough time to change after gym class. We asked him if heâd ever tried to put on pantyhose over sweaty/damp legs. He tried it. Took 45 minutes. Two things changed: all-male school board changed the dress code for girls to include dress pants, and our gym change time increased to 20 minutes. Men literally have no frame of reference for their privilege and misogyny and need to be schooled.
âWeaponized femininityâ with the current definition is so stupid. Iâd like to see reasonable weaponized femininity. Hair clips that can double as throwing knives, clutches that can be transformed into shields, wearing dresses both for the look and for the added range of motion. None of this âFighting in 5 inch heelsâ or âStupidly tight spandex that you canât move in but still Looks Good.â
Anybody out there advocating for âweaponized femininityâ needs to be advicating for practicality and safety as well
I like hearing âI want you to comeâ instead of âyou can come if you wantâ
my nasty ass was confused bc i thought this was about busting a nut

It has recently come to my attention that I am in factâŚneedy.
Georgeâs Passport.Â
student musician
way to go, george
My favorite part of Captain Marvel was the fact that Carol keeps getting told to control her emotions throughout the movie and yet she continues to be just as emotional as she damn well pleasesâŚAND it turns out to be the key to unlocking her power in the end. because as women arenât we always being told to âtone it downâ, to sit down and shut up, that stoicism=strength and emotions=weakness? So to turn around and give us a powerful female character who cries and rages and laughs, and to have that emotional, human side of her be her strength⌠this is the female characterization we need.
Felt a bit down so took a random trip to Paris. This city always cheers me up.
^literally the most privileged and bougie caption Iâve ever read
I live close to Paris so I just jumped on a bus, it didnât cost me more than 20âŹ, plus when you know the city you can basically find millions of things to do for free. Paris old only bougie for tourists.
Breaking news: People live in France.
Doesnât even have to be France lol - I once went to London with an ex-bf (ew I know, hahaha) for a few weeks, and since the trip overlapped with his birthday I surprised him with a trip to Paris for a weekend. We took a bus and a ferry overnight; altogether it cost 8 euros apiece. Lol.

pleeeeeaaaaase donât make fun of people for being overenthusiastic about their interests. if you see someone getting really excited about something and you think itâs a good idea to ruin their fun (and donât think people donât notice your eye rolls and side glances) youâre an asshole
Watch: Still unsure if white privilege exists? This should clear it up.
she literally tried to deal drugs to the cops I just.. fucken.. WHATÂ
He didnât arrest her he warned her it was illegalâŚ.. Warned !!!!!!! Wtfffffffffffffffffff
Donât tell your daughter that when a boy is mean or rude to her itâs because he has a crush on her. Donât teach her that abuse is a sign of love.
My mom always taught me yell or fight back. Boys would be mean and I would yell back. I would get my ass pinched and I would smack them as hard as I could.
Who alway got in trouble? Me.
They would call my mother and she always came in and lectures my teachers and threatened to sue for making her miss work and treating me poorly.
She always taught my brothers to respect women. The only fights my brothers ever got in was defending women from someone else.
The school tried to call my father once instead of my mother on us. He came in in his full preacher outfit (being a preacher and all) and gave them an entire sermon on what would Jesus day of he was called in. They decided dealing with my mom was better.
I think my favorite story of this is when some kid snapped my bra and I turned around, didnât even think about it, and punched that little motherfucker right in the nose.
So naturally, I end up in the principalâs office, refusing to apologize.Â
âHe shouldnât have put his hands on me and I wouldnât have hit him!â Thatâs the only thing I was saying.
These people had the unfortunate luck of catching my dad at home, instead of my mom. So he comes fucking sauntering in there, like heâs Clint fucking Eastwood in some western movie and looks at me.Â
âMelissa, did you punch him?âÂ
âYes.â I said.Â
âWhy?âÂ
âBecause he snapped my bra strap.âÂ
And he turns his squinty eyed glare to the principal and says, âYouâre telling me my daughter is in trouble because that squirrely looking kid put his hands on her and she chose to defend herself? Thatâs what you are saying to me.âÂ
âWell, sir-â The man kind of stuttered because my dad is kind of intimidating in the quiet sort of way that kind of whispers in the back of your mind that this person could be dangerous. âMelissa did make it physical.âÂ
âNo. That kid put his hands on my daughter. Are you saying my daughter cannot defend herself when some boy decides to put hands on her? Is that what you are teaching my girl?âÂ
I didnât get suspended that day. Â
*slow clap for excellent parenting*
This is the parent I want to be omg
I went to a nun school.Â
The nuns there were like, so rad.Â
It was a party organized for the end of the school year, and I was helping in the kitchen to prepare stuff with a nun and a bunch of little girls. There was one of the girlsâ little brother who was there.Â
There was a little girl who was carrying a bowl of tomato sauce and was going outside, but the boy was just in front of her and he slammed the door in her face. She dropped the bowl on the floor and got all messy.Â
So what happened?Â
The nun went outside, took the boy by the arm, and gave him an epic speech going around the lines of: âWould you treat the Virgin Mary like that, young man?â âNnnnnoâŚâ âThen treat every girl like sheâs the Virgin Mary.â Not only the boy had to apologize to the little girl, but he also had to clean up and he was put on kitchen duty for the rest of the day.Â
Then another day, in catechism class (I was a in a girlsâ school, mind you), the nun was there telling us: âIf a guy touches you in a way you donât like, punch him in the face. Itâs not a sin against charity. On the contrary, youâre being charitable by showing him heâs sinning by impurity and youâll save him from going to hell.âÂ
So I was at my desk during class looking like this:Â
Reblogging for awesome dads and kickass nuns.
âyouâre being charitable by showing him heâs sinning by impurity and youâll save him from going to hell.â
What a mood.
Jesus said if guys hands were causing them sin-problems, they should cut them off. Face-punching seems like a good pre-amputation steps, to prevent it getting that far.
those seem like Our kind of nuns.

remember being little and thinking dandelions were fun or a pretty color or something and every adult in an 80 mile radius wouldnât let you say that without screaming ITS A WEED
also like:
dandelions are edible, easy to grow, and are rich in vitamins a, c, k, beta-carotene, calcium, iron, manganese, and potassium
dandelions can be made into wine, tea, soft drinks, and a coffee substitute
they are used in herbal remedies to treat liver and digestive problems and as a diuretic
theyâre good for bees!
they make good companion plants for various herbs and tomatoes; their long taproot helps bring up nutrients in the soil and they release ethylene gas which ripens fruit
dandelions secrete latex which means they can be used to make natural rubberÂ
they make great flower crownsÂ
Why ARE they considered a weed? Theyâre a good flower? Who decided they were bad? =(
lawn culture made the decision to consider dandelions weeds
Destroying lawn culture is the hill I will die on
