Currently reading Oliver Twist...
And all i can say is, that the only thing that grew old in this book is the victorian phrasing. But the misstreatment and abuse of poor people feels uncanningly familiar and contemporary. What does that say about our moral rot....?
Ship or not, I like how these two get along.
Hope Avallach returns already in the dlc and of course in Witcher 4. I am shipping them very shamelessly.
Thinking of it...Ymir Fritz is a lot like Sadako/Samara. We even have the 13 years/7 days curse. And i swear Erends founding titan crawled right out of a well....
You know how there's already a lot of changes to mighty nein show....
And like, a character's death is too big to throw away in a tv show cause we don't have interactions between them and new characters that will appear later
So... What I'd we have, ya know, widomauk romance actually happen before whatever thing that should happen to Molly? Ya know, as a treat.
And as an addition to Caleb's trauma
It would be better in general to leave Mollymauk alive. It derailed the whole campaign beyond repair...

Annoying that dairy products are demonized as Unnatural and Disgusting when itâs actually kinda neat that humans figured out a way to fulfill omnivorous nutritional requirements without killing any animals (and populations historically dependent on dairy even evolved lactase persistence!). This is biopunk to me
Iâve seen weird memes and stuff like âMilk is BODILY FLUID that came from a COWâ and the fact that people exist that would find this distressing concerns me.
Y'all are not going to like learning what fruits areâŚ
A fruit is an OVARY that because SWOLLEN AND ENLARGED after PLANT GENITALS were rubbed in PLANT SPERM by a BUG
You guys do realize that all dairy cows are killed when their milk production decreases, right? The serve no monetary purpose after about 5-6 years of being constantly pregnant for milk and having their babies taken away because they stop being profitable when milk production goes down, and they are sent to slaughter. The calves are also either sent to slaughter shortly after being born (if male) or they go through the same process as their mothers (if female).
âWithout killing any animalsâ is blatantly, factually wrong. You donât need to think dairy products are disgusting, but you do need to acknowledge that animals are killed for it all the time, the vast majority of the time after a life of misery and pain so horrifying that most of us could never begin to comprehend.
Plus even if they arent killed after Âź of their natural lifespan they live miserable existences bred into unnatural bodies, having their babies taken away. If they had their ancestral bodies, got to keep their babies, got adequate medical care, and were allowed to live out their lives on happy cow farm milk would be so prohibitively expensive you might as well drink plant milk anyway. Same concept goes for the egg industry and non-cow milk industries
She lives a life of misery and her babies are taken away from herâŚSad!
Anyway, did you know that dairy farmers in the USA have had to literally dump out milk to stop the price from plummeting and ruining them financially because we overproduce so much? We literally produce more milk than anyone wants to consume but the industry as a whole is still driven by the unchecked-expansion-at-all-costs ideology
Do you know about the government cheese caves? you know, the giant caves full of cheese no one wants to eat that the government had to store to subsidize the price of milk in order to stabilize it because capitalism runs by clown rules
@vegspoblr animals are also pregnant every year in the wild. They donât have anti-baby pills. Shocking, i know.
Animals being pregnant every year in the wild doesnât excuse artificially inseminating domesticated animals against their will for human interests. Shocking, I know.
Of course you can. In the same way you can eat them for food purpouse interests.
I feel so insane about ai. I've had face-to-face conversations with people who use it for therapy, who use it to calculate the safety of pill interactions, who use it for all their emails and grant applications and legal documents and academic papers and finance sheets and for every single question they have about the world, and if you tell them about the ecological costs they just laugh and say "I guess I've used a lot of water." and I've been in multiple gatherings of 10+ people where I'm THE ONLY PERSON who doesn't use chatgpt. it's turning me into a ranting raving pariah, because how don't you people see??? why don't you understand??????? this bullshit didn't exist five years ago, you absolutely do not need it, and it is destroying everything
AI is a catastrophie for the enviroment. But here is the BUT. Blaming the users does not help. NOT A BIT. First, people don't like it to be blamed in the first place and will rather react hostile but more important is: this strategy pushes the responsiblity downwards instead of upwards.
Plus...and this is the unpleasant part: AI is not a pop soda or a or a pair of shoes. It's infrastructure. And even if all the people would stopp to using it, it would still not stop to exist, because companies don't need private users to sustain this infracture. Other companies will use it. Shareholders will support it. Probably even the state.
I know this logic. If people would just stop consuming it, it would vanish....but this does not work in reality. Not in this case. Not for infrastructure.
So the only thing that will help is collective pressure for regulations. Unfortunate....we are not very collective anymore and people prefer it to row in their own boat... -.-

Turning a TTRPG into an authored story, aka an anime, in our case, is actually a quite difficult thing.
It's way more difficult than turning a book into a movie, because a book and a movie are at least both authored storys and coexist in the same universe.
Meanwhile an authored story and TTRPG are basically two different universes with different laws of physics.
So no matter what you do, there are mismatches are will happen and they need to be fixed.
In the case of Campign two, the mismatches are especially servere, because the campaign derailed and broke structurally beyond reapair. And translating this, without serious adjustments, into an authored story, would be like GoT season 8....but for 5 seasons...
The fandom discussions about the final season of Stranger Things show: people are confusing plot armor with genre mismatch. You recognized the patient is ill, but you gave the wrong diagnosis.

The problem of Casuceus is that he is just a plot device in some way. He was invetend for cope. He would have never existed otherwise. And thats a bad reason to invent a character. Works evtl for tabletop, but it wont work well in a scripted story.
You may burn me as a heretic now.
Spoilerwarning
The people who insist that Molly has to die for character developement let me ask you a question....how much expierience do you actually have with death?
Because death changing people is a pure invention of fiction. It does not happen in real life. Not a bit. It just makes people miserable for a while until life continues at some point. In worst cases it can even cause stagnation in people from mental scarring. But it never ever causes development or powerups or some other bullshit. It's just a fictional shorthand for authors who don't have a better idea to make their characters grow.
So let it be a bad dice roll and leave it for the table top and not repeat it in a story with some actual power over the plot.
Spoilerwarning
So the last episode prooved that this kind of Molly angst works way better than just killing him off. It's also way more interesting. Now make something out of it and don't just repeat a bad dice roll.
Question: Marvel is always the same. Starwars is always the same. Aliens is always the same. Why exactly is it such a drama when the movie with the blue, tribal space elves is always the same?
People are dunking hard on the CEO of Epic Games for saying that it doesn't make sense to make games disclose AI use because practically all games are going to be using AI somewhere in development at some point, but I honestly think he has a point. The one group of people who have really consistently embraced AI as a part of their workflows are programmers. That goes for both professionals and 'vibe coders' alike. It's one of the few contexts in which these bots - and specifically ones like Claude, which are specialized for coding - seem to do a pretty good job.
And the thing is, I don't expect many people would really be too offended if the programming of games involved AI. (nb. I am not referring to the incorporation of AI into the game itself, but to the use of it by coders in the process of programming the game). People are angry about the prospect of the art, writing, and music of games using AI (and a little bit about frame interpolation, but for different reasons). There's a specific kind of nerd who finds beauty in a beautifully programmed game, but we mostly agree that games that are programmed by people who barely know what they're doing (e.g. Toby Fox) can be great games. Badly-programmed games cause problems (eg. poor optimization, bugs, exploits), but a game that has those features is not intrinsically bad qua game. That's not what the essence of a good game is. A tightly programmed game that isn't fun and that tells a bad story isn't a good game. A sloppily programmed game that is fun and does tell a good story is. So long as the player can't tell that there are problems in the programming, the programming poses no problems for the game's goodness.
My position on AI is - and always has been - that it's extremely bad for certain use-cases but pretty good for others (and that the current AI industry has a whole host of attendent economic and regulatory issues that don't have much to do with the technology itself but need solving). AI should not be in an OS. AI should not be in a university curriculum. AI should not be in a novel. AI should not be in a courtroom. But in the back end of a video game? I'm not so sure. I feel like we might get more really good video games if making a video game was slightly easier. And that it wouldn't really compromise anything I think is valuable about those video games.
To be clear - I think programming is a beautiful thing. I'm currently learning it myself. But I also love mathematics and don't begrudge others the use of a calculator.
The line for me is: Is the AI used in particular with the intention to replace good payed or fullfilling jobs. And is it used to create cheap bad slob. So i don't have an issue if it is used for certain things as assistance. But the context matters. Also there are huge differences in the type of AI. A picture generation AI is different from a text generating AI f.e..

Unpopular Oppinion...also Spoilers
Since Mollys death in the tabletop was basically just a bad dice role, i would prefer it if the TV show goes the original route instead where his Lucien past is slowly revealed and where he gets a chance to choose redemption.
And since TV shows are not table top games, i also think it would work better story telling wise. And i am going to die on that hill.
I am hugging my cat now to cope. So...for tiamats sake leave at last the tiefling alone now, you already barbequed the cat.
