Little tutorial on how to paint Ghibli style grass
My English is not good so I canât write in English ,sorry about that and hope this is helpful to you guys : ) ćâŚčąćä¸ĺĽ˝ć˛čžŚćłććĺ¸ç¨čąć襨éć䝼尹çĺĺ§!!
The amount of layering of colors in this video is the reason why I love painting. Like only you see the image and not everybody else can until you finish it.Â

Okay but for anyone who legit wants to know how to calculate it correctly:
The elbow joint on average rests a couple inches higher than the navel, so if you measure how long the distance is from the middle of the shoulder to that point then you have the length of the upper and fore arms!
So if anyoneâs wondering about legs too, the simplest rule of thumb is that the length from the top of the leg to the knee is equal to the distance between the top of the leg and the bottom of the pectorals:
And I wanna stress that when i say âtop of the legâ iâm not talking about the crotch (please donât flag me tumblr itâs an anatomical term) iâm talking about the point where the femur connects to the pelvis, which is higher up on the hips:
Itâs easier to see what Iâm talking about in this photo of a man squatting:Â
So yeah if you use that measurement when using this technique you should get fairly realistically proportioned legs:
But remember! messing with proportions is an important and fun part of character design! Know the rules first so you can then break them however you please!
HOW THE HELL DID I FIND THIS POST OMG
I am hoping on this train~!! Feel free to ask me about any of them and why I like them. DA Version (Cause Iâm sure tumblr messed up the quality): https://www.deviantart.com/elitekessu/art/Ship-Dynamics-795197405

Damn this âWinter mermaidâ furisode by Iroca is impressive!
Aaaaaaaaaaah!!!! Iroca has also tailored a version for a gentleman <3
It so great to see men kimono fashion getting wilder pattern and color wise! Those kind of very showy kimono are usually mostly seen worn by performer or rikishi (sumo wrestlers, see examples below) but underground fashion is making a nice come back :)
(pictures from this asahi shimbun article)
I was just gonna reblog the first one with a comment like âif Lisa frank designed kimonoâ but then I saw the sumo wrestlers and fell in love. Big dudes who look fantastic in kimono. Now I want kimono that looks good on bigger women

HOW THE HELL DID I FIND THIS POST OMG
So itâs 2:52 am and this is what I do instead of sleeping.Â
(My interpertation of Rouxls Kaard, btw.))
Gods die when people stop believing in them. You are a god, and your last follower is dying. Your days are numbered.
Who knows how I have been alive for? Ever since the religion was formed? Probably. I had done a lot of things as my time as a god. Sure I never played a big role in the anything major, not like the gods of higher standing, but I contributed. The world would not be as beautiful as it is now if it wasnât for my efforts and the efforts of the stronger gods. So to be given an expiration date on a seemingly immortal being really put into perspective on your own life.Â
At first, I panicked. I was scared, frightened, and all of those other words that describe the feeling of death. The other gods never cared about me, saying that my job could easily be taken over by another. No matter how much I pleaded and begged, they didnât care enough to help me. Well, all except for one. Ironically it was the god of death himself.Â
As I cried and wept at my impending doom, the Death arrived. Not to reap whatever god abilities I had left, like I previously thought, but to give me a glimpse of who was, essentially, my last follower.Â
He was elderly, the eldest of his family. Despite how big and successful his family was, he hardly ever see them now. Once his wife was by her side but she lost to a medical battle over ten years ago. He worked at that old farm that was passed down through centuries of family traditions. He would often from dawn to dusk. But these days, he hardly ever had the strength to continue and so the garden was also dying. He looked sad, lonely, and hopeful.Â
My heart echoed.Â
Resonated.Â
Cried.Â
The very next day, I arrived at his farm.Â
Of course, he was shocked by my godlike appearance. But that was put behind us when he welcomed me into his home.Â
We talked like old friends. We laughed like old friends. We ate, sung, and worked on that little farm. Jokes were said, songs of old were sung, melodies I havenât heard in years. Memories were shared and stories were told. No boundaries were set, no boundaries were established. Nothing but the world around us and the two joyful people. From the distance, it just seemed like we were having the time of our lives.Â
For all we cared, we did.Â
There were no tears of sadness when the day finally came. We both sat on the porch and looked out into the majestic sunset. My body fading and his heart slowing. But neither one of us was remorseful or sad. We both sat there, surrounded in the sound of our bliss. Overlooking the sea of our hard work. A garden once thought to have died, now revived.Â
I could have found new followers to extend my life. But if I was going to be replaced anyway, I might as well have made my last follower happy in his dying days. That was my duty as a god, and I fulfilled it. A minor god of fruits and vegetation and a once lonely elderly man both sailed off to the land of paradise. Leaving the living world behind them.Â

How TV Cartoons Are Made - A (Mostly) Simplified Guide
When I was in school and wanted to work in animation, there was very little information about how cartoons are actually made. Even my professors at college knew very little about the industry as it is today. Iâm sure it wouldâve been better to study somewhere in California (like CalArts) to be better informed about this stuff, but I didnât have that opportunity.
Nowadays, many kids in school have a dream career that they donât really know much about. Thereâs a lot of missing bits of information and a lot of straight up lies that get circulated as fact as people try to scramble to put the pieces together on how cartoons for television are actually made.
Iâve been storyboarding for television for a while now, and there still arenât clear resources for those wanting to get into the industry. I wanted to make the basics available to everyone, so hereâs a quick rundown through the TV pipeline. Please note: all studios and productions are different. Even cartoons made within the same studio could have wildly different production guidelines. This is not a concrete explanation of how every cartoon is made; this is simply a generalized look at the âtypicalâ television pipeline.
**DISCLAIMER** All images in this post have been sourced from blogs, twitters, scribd and flickr pages are publicly available, and no internal studio materials have been used that have not been already published publicly online. This post is influenced heavily by my own individual experience, as well as friendsâ.Â
With that said, this might be a lengthy read, so letâs go!
I know this is lengthy, but if youâre in art school studying animation, thinking about a career in animation, or just want to learn more about the TV animation industry, this is a MUST READ!!!!
Seriously. A lot of this stuff I had to learn on the job the first few weeks working in the TV animation industry. I really really wish professors taught me this stuff in college. This is invaluable information, folks.Â
