The very special day for humanity - the 9th of May, we call it Victory Day - the Day that cut down the horrific World War II back in 1945. This day is full of unstoppable tears and stories of survivors... Every Soviet family lost their loved ones. My greatgrandpa died in Ladoga Lake. When Nazis cut out Leningrad from railways and other connection with the rest of the country, Ladoga Lake was the only way to bring food and weapons and evacuate people on the way back. The lake was covered with thick ice, and it was used as a road. For someone it was luckily thick, but not for my greatgrandpa...It was called the Road of Life. Thank to this route, people of Leningrad could have the 125 gramm loaf of bread (0,04 oz) provided daily. Not enough to survive and not enough to die... Now my table is full, but my heart is empty. All I see is a young man drowning in the truck under the freezing water and ice of Ladoga Lake.

Для выпускницы коррекционного детского дома опций при выборе трудового пути немного: швея либо повар. Поэтому профессиональная ориентация для детей как Настя очень важна. Особенно приятно, что это осознают представители HoReCa. К примеру, Holiday Inn (Симоновский Вал) организовала небольшой мастер-класс для ребят, в течение которого сотрудники отеля рассказали об основных обязанностях персонала, поддерживающего чистоту в гостинице. Работа тяжелая. Служащая отеля рассказала, что занята 6 дней в неделю по 12 часов. Работа стабильная и оплачивается вовремя. Было бы здорово, если и другие игроки индустрии гостеприимства поддержат подобную инициативу и целенаправленно начнут набирать и обучать работе в отеле выпускников интернатных учреждений... Мы с Настей попробовали заправить постель и пропылесосить номер, и, может, этот мастер-класс пригодится ей в будущем. Посмотрим...

My two Big Brothers Big Sisters sistas just came back from summer vacation. Nastya and Katya, both 15 y.o., arrived to new school this year.

This happened because of changes coming in the education system for kids from orphanage. Now they are obliged to study in regular schools and to be exposed to wider people in their daily activities. Inclusive education is the main direction for increasing social adaptation of boys and girls from correctional boarding schools who had easier study program and more comfortable environment. Girls used to study at classes of 5-6 where they know each other for years, now they go to class with 20-30 newly met students. This is challenging but it should make them more adaptive in further adult life when they would be exposed to more people, will have to communicate frequently and to protect their point of view, be quicker and more responsive.

So hopefully, everything goes well. At least, I hope it won't harm them!
