i love how vic checked who killed mitsi 3 TIMES he was SO SURE that its was tco just because he saw him with alan. (he saw the mitsi's actual flashback but still couldnt believe that cho could be good, cho used to work with alan during showdown after all thats what i mean) i wonder if that'll make vic realize that alan isnt evil anymore... nahhh probably not. he probably doesnt care anyway

I think it was less TCO being with Alan, and more Agent’s memory of TCO hovering above Mitsi’s burning remains that made Victim so certain of his interpretation that he never even felt the need to double check it was actually correct.

Because think about it: one of his best, closest friends came back from actually being involved in what happened to Mitsi, and Victim saw what he had witnessed from the perspective of Agent’s own eyes. That memory scanner offered the best, most trustworthy, evidence of the ‘crime’ in the world because it literally showed what was extensively a recording of the exact moment of her death and the direct aftermath. In any other situation, that would be absolutely ironclad proof. Especially for Victim, because Agent was already someone he trusted.

The only issue was that, for as great as Agent’s point of view was, it wasn’t perfect. There were things he hadn’t seen, and those things had mattered. It proves that for as powerful as being able to see literal memories are, witnesses can still be wrong.

Victim hadn’t been stupid to trust Agent’s memory, it was genuinely powerful evidence. It just hadn’t been complete. Agent just hadn’t seen TDL.

TCO teaming up with Alan probably had contributed to Victim’s hatred of them both, and to his belief that TCO was responsible for Mitsi’s death, but I don’t think it was the reason why he was so certain he checked 3 times. I think he trusted Agent’s witness ‘testimony’ more, and everything he learned of TCO in the years afterwards just sort of dog piled on that conviction until it had become an irrefutable fact.

So much so Victim hadn’t even felt like he had to check it when he literally had the the memory scanner on TCO.

Victim was so blinded by his certainty, it became a willful ignorance. That’s what makes the reveal he was wrong so satisfyingly devastating; Victim had been so sure he’d been right, sacrificed so much of himself in response to that belief, that the reveal that he was wrong feels like a betrayal against him. A fresh wound cut into him anew. Made worse by the fact he had numerous opportunities to find the truth early, and simply chose not to go looking for it.

I genuinely love how Alan and his team handled Victim’s ignorance and the reveal. It’s so well done. It played out so beautifully. It was so much better than I could’ve ever expected.

yeah he absolutely trusts agent and it wasnt stupid to do so but i meant like... after he saw mitsi's own memory, he still wanted to check 2 more times. i was wondering what else might cause that (just wanted to make clear what i meant, its after he saw that tdl was the one throwing the fireball) (what you said also works tho dont get me wrong) thanks for the long analysis btw i really appreciate it :3 its also one of my favorite scenes, im so glad that they tried something more abstract this time, you know the background being red and all that. it really makes the scene more impactful. (oh wait just realized i could also just write it) kind of a random example but its like finishing solving a really long math question only to realize you did a miscalculation in the first step, that little mistake causes all that hard work to be... meaningless. and again thanks a lot for the analysis!!
