Out of the Fire, into Another.
Romanus can’t help but chuckle at the other’s words. Look at that amount of sass, but it bothers him none. It’s not a bad thing to have, especially in a place like this. We all deserve to be a little bit sassy or sarcastic if we’re going to be dragged away from our home. “That’s pretty much it,” he says looking at the other, “This whole place is shit, but….” Some places do grow on you, is what he’s trying to say at the end but nothing comes out. He shrugs and begins walking, “Everyone has a name, right?” Maybe not everyone, but he hasn’t met someone without one. “It’s Romanus. C’mon. I’m not going to wait for you,” yes he will. He’ll wait. He’s not that cruel. “What about you? What should I call you?”
“So, by the way….the place you’re staying…You have roommates—Or if you’re lucky, you might be alone.” He remembers when he first got here he had been in a district, in one of those little tent-like things (it definitely wasn’t an apartment). He didn’t have to share a place with anyone. “Mm, also….if you are interested in learning about this shithole, you could probably check out the academy…Or the library.”
“Marluxia is what I’m usually called, Romanus.”
Eleven was another common one, but that would have been too much information. Marluxia rolled Romanus’s name around a few times, making sure to file it away into the non-hostile local folder somewhere in his head. Not necessarily a trustworthy being, but workable for now.
Without hesitation, Marluxia followed Romanus and quickly fell into stride with him.
“I don’t think everyone has a name by default,” Marluxia said thoughtfully. “That’s giving far too much credit to whatever is going on here. I’ve met beings with no name. It’s usually coupled with no purpose but that’s a technicality.
“Doesn’t seem to be the case for you.”
The idea of roommates wasn’t exactly palatable. Marluxia wasn’t antisocial, but sharing space with people he didn’t know and therefore could not predict as easily was an annoyance he didn’t want to deal with at the moment. Murder was always on the table, but also pointless for the most part. Especially now.
“Then again, you do know this place better than I do for now. Perhaps I will go to the academy. Sounds more fruitful than a library for my purposes.”
