To every creator out there:

Popularity is an indicator of marketing, not worth.

Seriously I can't stress enough that the attention you get is based on marketing psychology, not solely personal achievement.

my blood, sweat, tears, and years of effort and growth— have never come even close to beating out the notes on a shitpost I drew a decade ago. and thats because comedy has a much more generalized appeal. thats it!

Whatever you create, it's worth something. Please learn this, and don't forget this.

(and also, holding a knife to your audience will make your work a lot less approachable)

#not art #making this distinction is one of the most liberating things ive done as a creator #focus on your personal growth and simple joy of creation #whatever your skill level or amount of attention you get or dont get #what you make is worth something #and i also recommend getting yourself a lil community/friend group you personally share art in-- it hits different in a good way
