I really think everyone needs to truly internalize this:

Fictional characters are objects.

They are not people. You cannot "objectify" them, because they have no personhood to be deprived of. They have no humanity to be erased. You cannot "disrespect" them, because they are not real.

Your addition is actually completely antithetical to my message. It is literally the opposite of what I am conveying.

Stop telling people to encourage the cop inside their head.

How you treat fictional characters, given they are entirely objects of fiction, does NOT necessarily speak to your own character, and you do not need to be "careful".

It is not dangerous to imagine dark things happening to fictional characters. It does not mean you are secretly a bad person. It does not mean you unconsciously want to hurt people in real life. It is not a "slippery slope" to doing bad things to people in real life. You cannot damage your brain or turn yourself into a bad person by consuming "dark" fanfic.

I can write tentacle noncon of my favorite character all day long and be a fierce anti-sexual assault advocate in real life because what I do in my head is not the same thing as what I do in real life.

happy (almost) new year! so far horseracing wrongs, a nonprofit that tallies how many racehorses in the united states are killed each year, has counted at least 464 dead racehorses in 2025. as horseracing wrongs continues to file FOIA requests over the coming months, this number is expected to rise. numbers from last year are still rolling in: 842 dead horses in 2024 have been counted so far. these horses were catastrophically injured both on the racetrack and in training, pushed to their absolute limit while already suffering from chronic health problems. a horse's spine finishes growing and fusing at age 6 -- racehorses are pushed into training at 18 months old.

i'm not going to tell anyone to stop playing their favorite gacha game, that's the least of my worries, but this summer i saw an alarming number of "cute" posts on my dash whitewashing horseracing -- aww, look at the retired racehorse getting his own private race! the horses totally understand what "winning" means! so cute! -- and i REALLY hope i don't see any more of these in 2026. these intelligent animals may love to run but they cannot comprehend and weigh the risks associated with racing. horseracing is a cruel and barbaric sport that doesn't deserve to be romanticized.

im still absolutely flabbergasted that uma musume succeeded in its mission of revitalizing the horse race industry when it should have been left to die . its like what vaping did for teen smoking. i m not trying to cancel the horse girls i do like some but its really quite shocking to me that the industry formed on animal abuse is in vogue now. I also think its understandable that fans who have no clue about actual horse racing besides for the horses they know from the game would become supporters gradually, the game is good at propaganda and that was its mission, but it still gives me pause when I see it happening

#this + it's part of the gambling industry too #animal abuse purely for the sake of getting people to bet on races
