i love what s. bear bergman has to say about the word “passing” — that it puts the onus on trans people to make their presentation more legible to cis people.

it’s a webcomic written and drawn by tracy j. butler, set in 1927 st. louis. we follow the staff of a failing speakeasy as they struggle to keep their business afloat. chaos and a lot of murder ensues. it started in 2006 and still updates – no particular schedule, but always, always worth the wait. i’ve been a loyal reader for a decade now. it’s dark, funny, has SO much research put into it, and has some mindbogglingly gorgeous art. it was always great, but as the years have gone by it’s just gotten better and better. some samples:

every single house besides the one in the center within my 10 square blocks will remain uninhabited. I will put all the lights inside on timers so that it appears that people are living in there, I will have lawns mowed when I'm sure everyone in my victim house is at work/school, I will have decorations put up during the holidays and cars moved there and parked in driveways when I'm sure that the owner/couple/family in the house at the center is not there to witness it happening. I will produce all the superficial trappings of life without a single person actually being there.

who knows how long it'll take them to realize that something is wrong? when their kids are playing in the yard, and they notice they've never seen another child around here even once, despite the four-bedroom family homes all down the street? after a few weeks, when they realize the lights in the house across the way click off at exactly 9:45, on the second, every single night? when they've been living there for a month and a half and they realize they've never seen a single car park in front of another house? when they want to greet their neighbors and not a single house in the whole neighborhood opens its door?

I love maps! For a while now I thought there should be a pixel art map of the world, the kind with landmarks stacked shoulder to shoulder as can often be found in poster shops.

My wish is coming true and while it’s not the whole world (yet), I was happy to find David ‘Danc3r’ Moyano’s detailed Argentina and Venezuela maps. 

Joining this month is his incredibly ambitious take on the USA, namely The United Pixels of America: 8-bit Map of the USA, as commissioned by NetCredit.

The gargantuan piece measures 1325×851 pixels, three times the already huge Venezuela map. Just like the previous two, it’s also full of tiny, cute animations.

I’m currently out of an important medication – the first €30 I raise will go to filling it.

I’m currently living in a hostel and need money so I can continue to be doing that for a few more weeks while I steadily build up a support network. I should be in a better place in a few weeks here, though I don’t really have a good estimate of when exactly, I know that people are doing things.

My entire life savings is about €200. I pay €9 a day for the hostel and €5 a day for food – there’s no kitchen. That means in two weeks I’ll be able to afford neither food nor housing. For the time being I’m unable to do things like work and get therapy. So e-begging is my only option.

ALSO, if anyone near Greece, and not in the Schengen zone, either knows of a cheap hostel or is willing to keep me on a couch, I’m very interested. That’s any non-Greece balkan country, Turkey, or MENA. Just fuck me up I guess!
