Ebony Eunyoung Noh was born in Daegu, South Korea to Solomon and Rhonda Noh, both Fallbrook natives. At the time, Rhonda and Solomon were high school sweethearts who had married and migrated to Korea for new experiences. They didnât expect to have a child at the very beginning of Solomon finance career but it worked out for Rhonda to stay home and take care of Ebony while he worked hard for the family. Once Rhonda expressed wanting to return home, they moved  back stateside when Ebony was only four years old and decided to be near their families while raising her. They had a very happy home life and would eventually have two more children after Ebony.
While Ebony was happy with where her future was going, she missed having her father around and he only seemed concerned with working countless hours at the finance firm. Family dinners were often had without him but her mother would stay up late to ensure that he had a hot meal on the table. Things seemed to work out for them even if outsiders saw Mr. Noh as a selfish husband and emotionally absent father, but he genuinely was trying his best. He never wanted his wife or children to want for anything, to the point heâd even felt sad once Rhonda decided to return to work as a nurse in order to help make ends meet. Their home was their pride and joy and she didnât want him stressing so heavily over it.
High school was when Ebony decided she was going to help around with the bills as well, taking small jobs such as a clerk at the convenience store and even learning how to repair cars in her free time. She fought through the sadness despite finding out her mother had been diagnosed with terminal cancer. She never really wanted to think about what that meant for her, for her family, her father was completely broken by this and she could feel it. He started taking less hours at work to finally spend time with his family more, but he treated Rhonda so delicately that he began keeping her own children from her, ensuring they could never get her sick. This drove and even bigger wedge between Ebony and her father and that argument was the big blow up that would change their dynamic forever. She left home that day, a teenager, still in high school and knowing her mother was seeing the last of her days.
Graduation came, she was shocked that she even made it that far. At this point, she was living in a trailer park with her then boyfriend and things were not going very well for her. She was tired, pulling all-nighters to study for exam and working at the convenience store to be able to take care of herself. The saddest part of graduation day was that sheâd just been told that her mother was incredibly ill and would be in the hospital likely for the rest of her days. She had to stomach that and it wasnât easy at all. That summer, she passed away and she lost the motivation to go to college. Instead, she went to trade school to be certified for working on cars and decided that was the future she was going to live. Sheâd also left her job at the convenience store to fully focus on her career as a mechanic.
When she was about 21, she finally broke up with the boyfriend sheâd been with on and off for years and moved out of his trailer. She couldnât afford much on her own, so she moved into her own little trailer just a few spots down. This was also when she rescued Bucky, the dog she calls the best thing to ever happen to her. At the time, he was a newborn puppy who had just been left outside and she made it her duty to truly become his mother.
These days, sheâs trying her absolute best to make amends with her father. She knows itâs something her mother would want. Sheâs quite knowledgeable about cars, but she also how to handle minor home repairs and can be contracted for those as well. For the most part, she keeps to herself but sheâs been trying to branch out and return to that social girl she was before her motherâs untimely passing. She wants to be herself again.

Ebony looked like a fancy lady so Piper liked her. She always ended up trying not to stare at her but, as everyone knows, when she tried not to stare it only made it more obvious. It was hard not to, anyone would. Not a lot of people had Ebonyâs sharp and delicate features. Maybe Piper could make a friend out of the woman one day, it wasnât like those were hard to come around. Only the very best ones were, but a normal every once in a while acquaintance? Walk in the park. âIs that all?â The grocery store was as dead as can be with ten minutes to close on a Saturday. Fallbrook was in North Caroline which fell under the Bible belt, meaning that most families were tucked away early for Sunday mass. What a concept. Piper scanned the item, ringing Ebony up. âCash or card?â
...
Ebony being described as fancy would come as a shock to her. When she wasnât working at the auto shop, she did dress rather nicely. Nothing she had on was expensive, usually thrifted or created by her own hands with older outfits from family members. Today, she was wearing a simple slip dress that sheâd cut to be shorter, a leather jacket and a pair of combat boots sheâd thrifted a while ago. Her curls were in full effect with the fluff covering her eyebrows and she wore very light makeup, just enough to look alive after being drained of her energy from working on vehicles the previous day. She went to the grocery store to get ingredients for mac and cheese, smiling up at the blonde as she placed her basket on the belt and started placing the items down. âSorry for cominâ in so late. I guess the day got away from me..â her manners always prevailed. âIâm gonna be doinâ cash, or is it easier to do card?â
âThatâs nice of you,â Darius told her, though she had a feeling she already knew that. Darius wasnât typically a handy man, clearly not as capable as the woman before him. âSo,â he smiled at her still, taking a sip of his drink that was placed in front of him. âwhen you are not fixing things, what do you like to do? I feel like Iâve only ever seen you in your work element here.â From fixing his vehicle to now, helping Cordelia out around the bar.Â
...
âJust trynna make ends meet.â Ebony retorted with a half smile as she leaned back in her seat and gave him a once over. âWell, I like to play a little guitar.. love lookin;â up and buildinâ my own bikes. I especially like cookinâ... Korean food was always a little therapeutic to me.â she offered, nodding her head slowly and fixing her hair some once again. âItâs cause Iâm always workinâ. Any free time I got, I spend it with Bucky. How about you?â
Reaching over carefully, Avery pulled two red/yellow gummy worms out of the bag and was about to put them in her mouth, thinking better of it when Ebony spoke up. Probably best not to talk with her mouth full, even among family. âI did, just to volunteer mostly. I was at the Matching Ducks station. Didnât really venture out much so Iâm not surprised you didnât see me, sorry.â The vet apologized, taking a moment to bite off one of the gummy worm heads and quickly chew it. âBut Iâm glad weâre doing this now. Things at work have had my schedule all over the place. How are things in your neck of the woods, Eb?â
...
âOh..â she mouthed silently, popping more gummy worms in her mouth and chewing with a bit of a hum. Her slender fingers adjusted the shoulder strap of her overalls and she smiled in the direction of her cousin once she was done chewing and swallowing the candy down. âI was at the Cola Toss.. was real fun! I think I saw dad there..â her voice cracked toward the end of her sentence because she was shocked to see him. He didnât interact with her, but to see him somewhat living a normal life was odd for her. Not burying his head into work. Maybe he was finally moving on, maybe there was hope for her to rebuild her relationship with him. âIâm good... yeah, Iâm good..âÂ
âBy all means,â he held his hands up in mock surrender, âhowâs a drink or two fare for payment?â He offered to the woman, figuring dinner might be a bit of a stretch for this particular interaction between the two of them. He watched as she pushed the toolbox off to the side. âSo, you work on more than just cars or were you making a special trip to work on someoneâs car here?â He questioned with a curious lift of his brow.Â
...
Ebony was sure she looked a bit of a mess, so she hadnât thought much of the two of them having drinks together. Maybe he felt like he owed her for doing her job or something, either way she liked making friends. She got herself situated in the chair, looking around awkwardly at everyone who was nicely dressed in comparison to herself before directing her attention back to Darius. âAh, I do a âlil fixinâ here ân there. Miss Cordelia asked for my help on somethinâ so I came on by..âÂ

Milo met Ebony out front and followed her with his usual lazy footsteps into the garage. The mechanic shop was sixth and last on his list of frequented places because he had become a creature of habit during his recovery. His in-home work area being the first, followed by the Valentine family home, his siblings homes, NA meetings in Williamsburg that he attended once a week for the majority of the last two years, and Draper forest where he found time to think at the river. The NA meetings werenât something he was opposed to talking about, but Fallbrook did enough gossiping on its own so he didnât have to and no one ever asked directly. His family kept everything that happened in Seattle with Addie under wraps when he first arrived, but the story started to unravel with time. People would believe what they wanted and it wasnât a surprise that most of them didnât mind. Most people in town still talked to him like he worthy of the Valentine name, probably out of respect to his parents, but Milo couldnât help but look at them and wonder if social connections where important enough to ignore the acts of a murderer? In Fallbrook, they sure seemed to be. No one but Jack and his parents knew the entire story; he was okay with that. âSo you finally got a hand on the part?â It was a mix between a question and a statement. Ebony was one of the few people in town that he knew wasnât there for his approval and he liked that. They shared a mutual interest and even though he had never been much of a talker, they communicated in their own way over their love of anything with an engine. His eyes trailed after her and brows raised when he saw the piece.Â
...
It was a surprisingly busy day at the auto shop, but that worked out perfectly for Ebony because in all honesty, there were not many things she loved more than fixing up someoneâs vehicle for them. Her own father had his thoughts and opinions about the different offspring around town, Milo being one of the people he actually liked. Of course, he wasnât keen on any of the details about whatâd happened to him in Seattle, all he knew was that Milo was a Valentine and her father was an ass kissing finance bro, so of course he loved them. Despite the relationship to her father slowly burning out, she still kept in touch with Milo for reasons completely unrelated to the man who was once her idol. The curly strands of her long hair were being pulled up into a messy bun, a few stray strands hanging down as she lead him toward the part theyâd been discussing. âMy uncle was able to get it, really. He came down to the shop and told me to under no circumstance tell appa about this..â she rolled her eyes, hating that her father had such control over his siblings and their interactions with her. âBeen good?â she asked softly as she pulled the covering off of his requested part, knowing small talk was something neither of them particularly enjoyed but she did genuinely hope he was doing well these days.
With a bag of gummy worms in her hand, Ebony plopped down on the couch and looked over at her cousin with the widest of smiles. âDid ya go to the festival? I feel like I ainât really see ya around!â she asked excitedly, throwing a gummy bear into her mouth and chewing as she hummed along to the tune in her head. Spending time with Avery was always a nice time and family meant to much to her, even if she wasnât on the best terms with her own father at the moment. She hoped that one day that would change, maybe she would finally reach out to him.
Ebony had just finished wiping down her own car when she saw her friend walking up, a smile immediately playing on her lips. The two of them having made plans to go shopping for new beds for her dog. âHey! One sec!â she called out, dropping the towel down into the bucket and adjusting her overalls before jogging over to the other with a wide smile. âBuckyâs sleepinâ, but he should be good until we get back.â she informed the other, checking her pockets to ensure she had her cellphone and wallet. âWanna take my car or yours?â
where: cherry blossom festival - cola toss
who: open! @fallbrookstartersâ
Ebony loved attending all of the little events her sweet town had to offer. Cherry blossoms were a big thing in East Asian cultures generally, and though mainly celebrated in Japan, South Korea also had a big love for the blush colored flowers. Her job was to ensure everyone at the cola toss was following the rules and award them their gifted stuffed animals if they were to win and she had been enjoying herself thus far. Having tugged her long, brown and curly hair up into a bun, she smiled at the person as they stepped up and grabbed the three rings for them to take their turn. âOkay, so if you get three rings on the bottles, you get a teddy bear! If you get all three on the bottles in the back, you get one of these big guys!â she explained with an excited tone behind her words, patting one of the large panda bear prizes and holding her hand containing the rings out to the participant.

Quinn used a skill set she hadnât particularly liked to flaunt but she was in desperate need to hide somewhere no one could find her. She thought about calling Wyatt but the last thing she wanted to do was drag him back into the mess she had created with their father months ago. She stood at the counter in Ebonyâs apartment, a glass in one hand and a bottle of tequila in the other when she heard the door open. âJust so you know breaking into your place was way easier than it should have been.â She called out as she started to pour tequila into her glass. âYou want one too?â
Ebonyâs trailer was never the most secure and while people didnât typically break in, she wished she could say she was in complete shock to find Quinn sitting at her tiny counter with a bottle of tequila, but she wasnât. A long sigh fell from her lips as she tossed the towel in her hand onto the couch and stepped toward the blonde with her lips pursed. âWhat is it now...? Who upset you?â she asked with an eyebrow raised as she put a few glasses away in the cabinets and tossed her wet, curly hair to one side. âI hope you donât plan on just consuming that..?â but she nodded at the question, she needed a stiff one as well.
âYou sure?â Maya insisted on asking a second time. Her and Ebony were alike in that sense sheâd noticed, quick to brush aside any concern. She gave Steven another look as if to say heâd be fine before she reached for her drink. âIâve been good, the bakery has been keeping me busy lately.â she admitted not sure if it was the turn of the season that had everyone coming to Sweet Tooth. She wouldnât complain though because what was good for business was good for her. âHowâs life at the autoshop? My carâs been running great since I saw you last,â she added with a laugh taking a sip.

Ebony was never one to make those around her worry, even for the smallest things. There were enough people around town who were spoiled enough to feel as though their first world problems were everyoneâs plight and the last thing she wanted to do was exude the energy of Fawn Seigert. âIâm good girl, promise.â she retorted, physically shaking off the pain to show she was alright and chuckling soon after. âI need to stop on by and get my dad some stuff..â she was trying her best to repair that relationship, she just hoped it wasnât going to be for no reason. âGlad to hear that, really. Itâs been real busy which has me concerned about how yâall are treatinâ ya cars but hey... more business is good.â
Trevor looked over his shoulder as a cheer erupted behind him. One of his opponents had sunk their last eight ball in victory. Rolling his eyes, he didnât even bother to say anything, just pulled out his wallet, tossing a ten on to the pool table. Cheap bet that he probably would have one if he had been paying attention. âIâm blaming you for that.â He teased Ebony, his full attention going back to her. âAs long as youâre not hurting yourself when youâre falling, I wonât complain.â
Ebonyâs eyed quickly peeked over at the commotion happening and she couldnât help but to cock her head back in a light chuckle. A little shrug of her shoulders and smug frown later, she was turning on her feet to pour her friend another glass of beer from her pitcher with a warm smile. âCheers to me losing the game for you.. totally on me.â obviously teasing, but she felt the beer would make up for it either way.
Ebonyâs style is heavily 90s inspired. Usually there is some sort of baggy component to her outfits, paired with her big curly hair and bangs on display. She enjoys showing off her small waist with the minimalistic style of the 90s and early 2000s it girls.
âItâs fine. Really.â he insisted, feeling remorse for being so sharp with her earlier. It was an accident after all. In a crowded space like this it was bound to happen. He shrugged. âA couple more drinks and some ice and you wonât even feel it, trust me.â he told her, having been injured many times over the years both on and off the track. âDo you want another one, since Iâm heading that way anyways?â he offered, pointing his thumb at the bar. He needed a refill since most of his had spilled.
x
The idea of more drinks sounded nice to her, especially with Harrison whom she considered herself to be quite close to. In a way, without his knowledge, heâd almost stepped in as a replacement for her father when she needed it the most. âMmm can you get me an Irish car bomb?â she asked with raised eyebrows, offering him a soft smile.

âI have yet to have that happen,â though he supposed his loved ones were rather limited in some regard. âMy sister just moved to town so Iâm sure she will make sure Iâm not at work too much.â Despite Chandler being much younger than him, she had knack for bossing him around and Christian typically listened to her. âNo? Itâs worth a visit at the very least,â he nodded his head, âI actually have grown accustomed to living in Fallbrook the last two years so I donât think I could go back and like it. Itâd be too busy for me but I like goinâ back to visit for a long weekend.â Christian admitted to the woman before him. âKorea? Wow, thatâs amazing.â He blew air over his lips, âIâve never traveled out of the country, if Iâm being honest. Have you visited often?âÂ
x
Ebony was actually quite pleased to hear that the man didnât seem to be taking work so seriously that his close relationships had been suffering. It wasnât that she hadnât tried to understand her father and his upbringing that turned him into the person he was today, but she wished heâd put more time into repairing their relationship. âI think big cities are fun.. but it ainât like I spent much time outside of little olâ Fallbrook..â she admitted with a nod as she looked over toward the bar for a moment, finally looking back to Christian. âWell, when I was still close to my dad.. we went twice a year. Now... I havenât been in years.â
Darius smiled at her, âShe sure was,â he nodded his head, âYou, uh, you in need of a drink? If youâre not on your way out.â It looked like she had been working at the cocktail bar, doing something for Cordelia, he assumed. âUnless youâre needing to get out of here,â he lifted his hand to rub the back of his neck, âthen donât let me keep you from doinâ what you have to do.â He didnât want to assume that she wanted him to buy her a drink or that she wanted a drink in the first place, but he felt like it was only polite to offer her one.Â
x
Ebony typically didnât socialize when she was working, because she felt she was far too sweaty and smelly for that. Darius was nice enough though and she vividly remembered him being someone she thoroughly enjoyed making conversation with while she was taking care of his car back when she did. âI guess a have a âlil time before I gotta go... but Iâll have to charge you for my time..â she teased with a playful grin playing at her lips, setting her toolbox down and pushing it off to the side with her foot. She knew Cordelia didnât want that eye sore just sitting out in the open and she completely understood.
