I measured the specific gravity on Belgian (far right) today and it’s come down from 1.074 to 1.014 which according to the calculator it’s around 7.88% ABV at the moment. Hopefully it will finish up about 1.010 and I’ll get something around 8.4%. It tastes really strong of alcohol and sweet fruit right now. If I didn’t know better I would have thought it was some sort of wine. Hopefully a few months in the secondary will help tone it down a bit.
Side note: Those boxes to the right make great storage for bottles. They made of real heavy duty cardboard with strong glued bottoms. I used to be able to fit 5 six packs of 12oz beer bottles tightly in them but the company has started shipping in a slightly smaller box so they now fit 4 six packs loosely. Which is still plenty good. Blog about Craft Beer? Share your blog with more Craft Beer enthusiasts.
