In January 2026, the world's silence regarding the systematic assault on Kurdish life and land is a profound disgrace. In Kurdish neighborhoods like Şêxmeqsûd and across Rojava, Turkish-backed Islamist fascist militias are conducting a campaign of terror aimed at the heart of the Kurdish people. It is a historical travesty that while these atrocities unfold, Europe welcomes political murderers like Ahmed al-Sharaa (formerly Abu Mohammad al-Julani). To negotiate with such criminals is to be complicit in the erasure of a people.

The evidence of this hatred is documented by the perpetrators themselves. They film the capture of Kurdish men and youths, subjecting them to dehumanizing humiliation and branding them as "pigs.” This is not just warfare; it is an attempt to strip the Kurdish people of their dignity. The horrific murder of a Kurdish girl, thrown from a building, stands as a testament to the misogyny and barbarism of these forces.
