And because Americans tend to look at election results and fail to analyze what is truly happening — and give up. Beto broke my heart, but he’s started a profound change in Texas. The Democratic Party was barely even trying in Texas before. We have an enormous, outdated, unwieldy electoral system that suppresses the vote nationwide. We need to show the fuck up for more than one midterm election before things change.
