We
We will never be part
Of a bigger whole,
For we are not a shape
And they are not our puzzle.
We will never speak their words
And we will never whisper
Their judgement,
For we are deaf
And they are mute.
We will never play the part,
And we won't be named as an act,
For we are the story
And the book closes with our coffins.
We will always stand tall
And watch the grass beneath our feet,
For we are not the trees
To give shade,
And not the sky
For them to gaze.
We will never crumble
And we won't be their ruins,
For the siege never reached the gates
And their horns sounded hollow
And I shall stand by you
To laugh and cry,
For we sing the same song
The same tone
On a different line
