really tired of seeing people who don't know anything about music saying that olivia stole paramore's composition. GUYS yes the chord progression is the same, yes both of them start on the downbeat, but no the melodies are not the same. they have similarities sure but this has happened for years and years in the music industry and it's normal, mainly because there is a limited amount of chord progressions and a lot of pop music uses the one olivia and paramore have used in their respective songs. And this is what most people don't seem to understand: to start being this rigid with copyright is the death of music and artistry as no one is original, everyone borrows from other artists, adam neely made a really good video about this and i advise you to check it out here.

not really feeling the discourse around olivia rodrigo, a literal teenager. not really appreciating the debates on whether she’s white passing (hint: if you’re debating it, she isn’t). not really appreciating the flattening and whitewashing of her songs into universal sad girl tunes (ala mitski) when there are tracks where she’s clearly singing about being a woc whose white bf left her for a white girl e.g. “Cause I thought you’d like me more /If I looked like the other prom queens / I know that you loved before.” not feeling the way ppl keep claiming she stole from white artists because ppl don’t know most pop/poppunk songs have the same basic chord progression. and absolutely despising comparisons to taylor sw*ft, a grown white woman. miss rodrigo is only 18. 18!! she’s clearly a vulnerable talented VERY young woman finding her way. she needs protection and support, not to be picked apart by grown people for clout!

I was thinking about canonical Percabeth and like. Most of the PJO fandom doesn’t deserve them actually lol. They are both so pure and gentle and sweet but also so true to themselves and each other like BRO. They are childhood sweethearts I can’t think about them too much or I’ll die

i’m sorry if this is controversial, but annabeth was the ONLY one of out of the seven who had the best friendships with everyone and didn’t have petty rivalries going on. while everyone else was trying to one up the other, annabeth was: the only person to comfort hazel after her fight over nico, the only person frank felt comfortable with to ask her about the handcuffs, helping leo with the argo ii and bonding over being the two smartest kids, having deep, sentimental conversations with piper, and working with jason for war plans. she’s a lot nicer than the fandom makes her out to be.
