Okay so here is a compilation of my favorite willmack fics that I’ve read (so far). A key thing for me is will centric or will focused, not always but a lot of the time. It’s hard to describe it without oversimplifying it too much but I guess I really like a Will characterization that is not, maybe, the one that’s most prevalent or the one that dominates the fics i see in the tag (where I spend too much time checking lol on company time yes ofc). For me will is very important BUT I of course love Mack as well and I think these fics are full of incredible iterations of him too. If it’s, should I say, purely smut or very sex focused I think my preference will be made clear fairly quickly. Bottom will lovers unite and all that. One of the very first willmack fics I read after joining the fandom. What a way to start! Still one of my favorites and I’ve reread it so many times. Will is being sent away for reasons and his life gets tangled with outlaw Mack. This is honestly such a feat, a well executed, incredibly well written, exciting, romantic and very atmospheric story.

I think maybe my very first willmack fic. I was just learning about everything and that of course included the game against the pens. Featuring will going down, Mack reacting to it and taking care of wills things and will himself. Making himself feel better only by seeing that will is okay… It’s so beautifully written and intimate and I’ve reread it also, many times over.

I’ve already come clean about this being maybe my number one favorite so far. I’ve read it so many times I’m scared to even check. I fear I won’t do this justice with my clumsy words, please go read this brilliant story. It's so raw and you just feel it in your stomach because of the brilliance of the writing. Mack seeing will and parts of will he won’t admit to himself are there and taking action. Mack knows what’s best for will (but does that make it okay…). Seriously just go read it. I am so jealous of anyone reading this for the first time… alpha/alpha only yes but also not really at all.

Yes this writer again of course. 5+1 fic where mack is fwb with wills bestie (girl leno) and keeps running into will in their shared apartment. Will is (as he is) beautiful, soft, baking, inviting, lovely… mack is helpless. Very sweet, love this mack pov, love this will characterization, reread x many.

Oh my god. Winners room fic (love that it’s a thing here too like with f1). I love seeing will put in situations being used and abused sorry not sorry. This one is hot, the sex scenes are amazing and just overall it’s so well written and the relationships are well… complicated !! I’m usually a pretty “staunch” otp person if you will and rarely like to see them paired off with others but evidently even i can be open to it when it’s as good as this fic. The encounter if you will that Will has with Tom Wilson is a fave i’ll say that.

Yes this writer will be showing up again lol. Asexual (on that spectrum) Will and his relationship with Mack. Adore this one also. It’s so tender and Mack tries so hard. Like everything put out by this writer it’s also funny, the dialogue is great, full of great moments and scenes I won’t pick out because just go read it if you haven’t and read it again if you have. I know it says finished but I’m always holding out for a new snippet, never say never!!

Well hello again. Also can we just give a moment’s attention to how great this writer is at coming up with titles. This one is tougher at times read dealing with something that is so common in professional sports which is substance abuse. Again, incredible execution. This Mack POV is one of my all time favorites. The scene in the club (iykyk) oooof!

My kingdom for anxious will pov. Oh how i love Will pov like this. This one is terrific, a lovely little will “character study”. I also appreciate the more positive/well meaning character of rick which is something i like. Will has panic attacks and Mack doesn’t know what to do but wants to help and it’s sweet and just a lovely hurt/comfort read.

Reading about Will getting so competently fucked is such a treat for me, I’ll never take it for granted. Just such a treat, the writing is off the charts good. Run don’t walk etc !

Another favorite “universe”! Sports journalist Will gets a dream gig at the Olympics in Milano covering the hockey games. But uh oh… olympian phenomenon Macklin Celebrini is Will’s college ex boyfriend! And the last thing Will wants is to interact with him ever again… loooove this one (several follow up installments too the writer spoils us!). Will is funny and cute and amazing and Mack gets to do some grade a groveling. Journalist Will and his hockey superstar boyfriend Mack, like i said i love this verse.

Another addition to my favorite kind of Will pov which is when he is Suffering. Will has a very bad not good birthday. This is very much Will internalizing a lot and doing what I’d say is dissociating and going through motions and simultaneously going through it and then it boils over. The writing is gorgeous, like i said i eat this “kind” of will (meant in the most appreciative sense) up. You just want to hug him (dw mack is on it).

Older Mack timetravels back and fucks younger Will with a pussy. That’s it that’s the fic. I think I left a comment saying it felt as if the author looked into a part of my brain and decided to indulge me specifically with this one. The implications of everything is just… big beefy older captain Mack with present Will - i can’t. SO good!

Mack is the sharks veteran captain with a temper and Will is their starry eyed new rookie. Such a lovely read, Mack and Will and their chemistry (of course) and their relationship developing. Again, reading this felt as if i was being personally indulged which is such a special feeling and i just love fanfiction isn’t it amazing. Love love love it.

What is there to be said about this one that hasn’t already been said. What a journey! This Will lives in my heart always, and this Mack too tbh. Mack realizing what he wants when it’s “too late” (is it tho) and handling it super well. Will and Chris’ relationship was also so believable. I reread this sooo many times when it was updating and i will again. Just a beautiful fic, crazy good writing, the chemistry between the characters is So good… ugh just love.

We love Will’s narrow mouth and big bunny teeth in this house. This one is fun and hot and again i’ve read it many times. And i will again.

Again yes hello same author. Mack is a big yearning himbo and Will is in mack’s words “not the brightest, so…”. Genuinely insane Mack in this one, big big fave. All around a very believable, in the craziest way, presentation of what makes willmack so them. Mack starts this off at 110 and will takes a moment to catch up - not that Mack is self aware really. Its so fun, will’s pov is incredibly well crafted in this one, it’s sweet it’s hot it’s silly awkward… amazing. If you haven’t read you’re really missing out.

Another repeating writer hello. This one is three parts with alternating POV, both of which are just amazing. Will struggling with his feelings for mack, his feelings about being gay gasp and mack trying valiantly and a little clumsily to be patient and understanding. Funny, sweet and very tender.

This one also deals with Will’s birthday and the fallout from him being benched (partly) in front of his family… amongst other things. Am i evil for how much i enjoy reading about will bottling his emotions to then break down and cry about them? Maybe. But i’ll keep enjoying it. This one is quite contained to the aftermath of the game and some cathartic crying for will. Very sweet, very lovely and also sad. Hurt/comfort i love you.

This one really makes my brain go brrrrrrrrr. Alpha/alpha. I love traditional omegaverse sometimes, but non-traditional when it’s like this is hard to beat. Surprise Mack’s rut is early, oh no! What to do. Good thing his boybestfriend Will is here to selflessly help out. Basically alpha mack goes into rut and fucks and knots alpha will who… learns some things about himself. SO GOOD. Well hello again. This one is a doozy. Cat hybrid Will and maybe the most dirt-baggy Mack yet! Like i always say, the writing in here is something special. Will is really going through it here with little relief. Mack crosses every border ever conceived by man (or cat hybrid) and is unapologetic about it because, actually, he knows best okay. He knows what Will needs better than Will himself. Oh man this one, just wow. On repeat like the rest. Dirtbag Mack is my personal favorite okay.

This one is like the odd one out because it’s mainly Ryan/Will and like i said above i rarely stray from my “main” pairing. Found this one working my way through the willmack tag from back to front (yes i’m insane it’s fine) and it stuck with me. The atmosphere was so clear, I could just see the poolhouse see Will lounging all wet and tan… he has a tryst with gardener Ryan and the mack in this one doesn’t feature heavily but his presence looms (very heavily).

This one is Mack pov and deals with him, dealing with I guess, Will and his catholicism. My bookmark note for this one is just “wow” which pretty much sums it up. It moves through i guess you could describe them as snapshots/individual scenes where sometimes will and will being religious comes into relevancy (not in every scene!). This Mack pov is, just, top of the line. Him and Will in this are incredibly endearing and feel so realized and real. It’s a gorgeous work of writing, everyone that loves willmack should read it imo!

This one jumps around in the timeline, we’re in Boston getting drunk and then we’re in Italy losing the olympic gold and then we’re in earlier stages of willmack’s relationship… another great mack pov if you ask me, which you kind of are if you’re reading this list. Obsessed with will and trying his best. It’s like a well written little time capsule of willmack from the first insta dm to getting drunk separately in Boston but it’s made up of snapshots. Highly recommend!

Oh my god. This one is GOD TIER. Mack just wants to do a scientific experiment with his good buddy because hey will, have you heard it’s possible to come untouched and doesn’t that sound crazy and it’s super normal i want to do this with you you can pretend it’s okay ! this one is new (from may 9th) and i’ve already read it an unholy amount of times. Mack sees through will uses that to his (and will’s, maybe..) advantage and they fuck about it, thoroughly. Will cries, have i mentioned i love will crying during sex. Anyways sorry yes this one gets a golden A+ stamp from me and if you like bottom will run don’t walk and show this one some love because, wow.

This one is ongoing, 2 / 3 chapters are out ! These two are crazy about each other. Mack takes bulldozing caveman to new heights in this one (will doesn’t want saving). One personal highlight for me is mack saying that sucking dick is gayer than getting fucked and that that’s why will should let mack fuck him. Shhhh hes cooking. This one is a lot of sex but a lot more than that too. It’s a god tier Will pov and mack is just incredible. Will tries (if i’m being generous - not because of the AMAZING writing but because of the boy being silly) to deal with his wants and the shame he feels about what he wants.. Ugh it’s so good. Im subscribed as hell, i’m subscribed like you’ve never seen before.

Oh my god, from not so wholesome to very wholesome! Will and Mack get wishbabies, a concept that i wasn’t familiar with until I read this fic. It’s incredible and lots has been said about it already very deservingly but I love it and wanted to include it. Will and his mini-me Liam have my whole entire heart. Mack and his 99th percentile baby girl. They’re so dumb in this one, in the best way. Fabulous all around, I almost shed a tear when it ended and hope is the last thing that abandons you so im hoping for a sequel until the internet is shut down!

Okay so turns out doing this at work might have affected my focus just a tiny bit because how did I forget the fic/series that was one of the reasons I wanted to make this list. Alpha Mack and omega will (my loves), Mack being absolutely insane about Will (as he does). So this is where i am at right now. I just want to show my love for these stories and these writers. Fanfiction has been such a big part of my life for so long and i have so much love and respect for all the writers that use their free time (and hopefully company time) to craft these stories for us. Every fic on this list has made my day better many times over. If anything sounds clumsy it’s because english is not my first language but i promise nothing is said here without love. As of this morning I was reluctantly looking for jobs because I love my job and don't want to leave it, but see: $10k raise problem solver.

As of noon today this was no longer an issue, because my boss called me with the news that I was getting a $10K merit raise.

I feel like a huge weight has been lifted off my shoulders. This is roughly $200 extra per paycheck. Enough to pay off debt faster, rebuild my savings, and spend a weekend a month in Milwaukee getting obscenely laid. The sex I'm going to have on $200 extra per paycheck. You can't even.
