Ruby is one of Dr. Robotnik's (Eggman) creation. Created before Infinite gained the abilities of the phantom Ruby, he was meant to be a prototype, created from the very source of this power.

Infinite could control the phantom Ruby, and Ruby represented the phantom Ruby itself, being what was left of it.

Created as a weapon, Ruby was quickly viewed as the child of Dr. Eggman due to their strong bond.
