so odd thing, I grew up loving bug type pokemon
And I've had my sycther since I was seven, and I'm considering evolving her into a sizor, but I don't know much about them and I'm sceptical on whether I should, that's why I came to you
Are sizor safe to have?
wow, that's....kind of wild that you got a scyther that young! they're generally considered dangerous pokemon and aren't what i'd call appropriate for kids. good on you for not, uh, getting sliced up since then, i guess?
scizor aren't inherently any more dangerous than scyther, but that doesn't mean they're safe. just dangerous in a different way. whereas scyther are incredibly fast and will slice up anything that gets in their way, scizor confuse opponents with the eye spots on their pincers and then. well. smash anything that gets in their way. their pincers are insanely heavy and, combined with their steel exoskeleton, will reduce most soft tissue into a paste upon contact. if you've been properly training your scyther for safe human interaction, there shouldn't be anything inherently more risky to having a scizor. you're really just trading one risk for another.
that being said, you'll need to do plenty of your own research on the unique care needs of scizor compared to scyther. because their behaviors and physiology are so different, you would have to make some pretty extensive husbandry changes. scizor are heavier, have different enrichment needs and hunting behaviors, and prefer a cooler environment than scyther do. it's a big adjustment to raise a scizor instead of a scyther, and you need to make sure you're ready for that shift- if your scizor isn't getting proper care and enrichment for its new needs, it will become more dangerous.
