"I wrote this song about a girl who hates her life because she has been told that she is a loser since she was a kid, never gonna amount to anything, everything that happens wrong with her family she’s told was her fault by her parents, and she’s had a secret life of cutting for years. And now she finally decides that she wants to kill herself, not a single reason left to live. She comes to me and says, ‘I just want to say goodbye, my life stinks, there’s no purpose in me living anymore’. And in this song, I get a chance to tell her how special she is, and that her life, in fact, is not a mistake, and that she was created for a reason. Most importantly, I get the chance to tell her that there’s a God who loves her tonight, no matter what she’s ever done. There’s a God that loves her just the way she is right now, and she doesn’t have to change everything to come to him. He loves her just like she is.
