Okay the scene where Asgore is rummaging through the Holdiays' stuff hoping to Fix Everything... that's SUCH a fuckin' 6/10 Hollywood Action and/or Comedy plot, right? You start with a poor maligned man who has an ex, but if he solves the plot and fixes everyone's problem and becomes a Hero, then he'll win her back, right? And any wacky hijinks he gets up to along the way don't matter, right? Except we're not watching from his perspective, so he just looks like a sad, desperate man who needs to move on instead of invading his neighbor's privacy and stalking his wife.
And it's such a perfect parallel to Undertale too, where he's the father who lost everything and is making the hard choices and getting revenge, except again we're seeing this from outside his head, so he's this miserable little child murderer.
I love what Toby does with this shitty shitty man so much. He's a middle finger to every writer who puts a man and his selfish needs before everyone else in a narrative.
