Hi! I'm Schrat, welcome to my forest!
About:
30, he/him living on the Swabian Alb, a little mountain range in Southwest Germany from where I can see the Alps.
This is my side blog for forestcore and nature photography but also contains some arts and crafts and folklore.
Tags: #mine - all of my original posts #my art - all my arts and crafts #my comment - reblogs to which I added something #pretty skies - photos of sunrises and the alps #herbology - plant posts #You cannot kill me in a way that matters - posts relating to my obsession with decay and the almost inifinite connectedness of the forest I don't post nsfw content but anything with some skin will be tagged #nsfwish Tw's: #bones #insects #body horror #spoopy (anything darker themed)
Other blogs: My main is @skogsskratti, where I mostly just post miscellaneous things to find them again.
I am sort of a heathen and obsessed with runes and their historical use about which I post on @skogsskratti-ristr-runar (Inclusive heathenry only, racists and -phobes of all kinds can fuck right off)
I also got @official-schwaebisch for Swabian and German stuff.
I am also a mod for @rangersofthewilderness and our lovely discord channel The Wilderness
@lepidopterascientifica is for butterfly and moth photography I do mith my dad. It is however currently on ice, but there are plans to revive it
FAQ What does Waldschrat mean? A Waldschrat is figure from German folklore. "Wald" means forest and "Schrat" is related to the Old Norse "skratti" which is a spirit or sorcerer (hence skogsskratti being Waldschrat in Norse) A Waldschrat is a spirit of the forest. Depending on region and story they are more or less benevolent and more or less capable of magic. They are often depicted as short bearded men, similar to dwarves or gnomes, sometimes with a forest element like moss or lichen in their hair.
Why are you called young Waldschrat if you're 30? Because the old Waldschrat is my dad.
What camera do you use? I use a Canon EOS 700D, unless it's super macro closeups, then I use my dad's Canon EOS 90D and Helicon Focus Stacking software
