UBI needs to happen. via antiwork
I think most importantly, it would give us the leverage to say ânoâ. To walk away from bad jobs and abusive managers. To refuse to work in unsafe environments. To demand better pay.
To demand better, because the options are no longer âsuck it upâ or âdieâ.
and thatâs why thereâs so much resistance to implementing it - capitalism wants workers who donât have a choice
CAPITALISM WANTS WORKERS WHO DONâT HAVE A CHOICE
I canât get over âand comes fucks meâ.
This video ruined all those aesthetic photos of fog for me. I canât see a foggy landscape without this video playing in my head.
Itâs Comes Fucks Me Wednesday babes
I'm rewatching A Discovery of Witches despite the fact that precisely because it is silly and self-indulgent and delightfully unapologetic about being a show about forbidden romance⢠and vampires and witches in good knitwear.
Anyway. It strikes me that I may have subconsciously craved a rewatch because it is also a very powerful -- and, again, absolutely shameless -- fantasy about overcoming the anxieties, pressures, and not infrequent indignities and insults that come with being a female academic. To wit:
You will get a job
Moreover, you will get a good job
Despite your imposter syndrome, you are good at what you do
Your research topic is special and important
That powerful older man who's awful to you at a cocktail party? he's just an asshole
Your intellectual passions will not make you ineligible for or incapable of having a satisfying romantic relationship
Oh, and your manuscripts love you back <3

Was it not left ambiguous?? Am i missing something?? Y'all this fandom makes me feel like I'm bad for not liking this stupid ship.
Bonus:
Some lovely â¨amatonormitvity â¨
Also, who doesnât love the idea that theyâre a couple but still that awkward and shy in public??? I adore that!! So cute!
The Owl House Said 'some people don't deserve kindness and forgiveness actually. Fascists deserve to get curb stomped in the Rain (Also Abusive parents don't deserve Hugs)' and I think that's so beautiful
The moral of Watching and Dreaming is that minorities donât have to feel bad about beating the crap out of oppressive genocidal puritans and if that isnât the message we need in American politics in 2023 I donât know what is.
congrats guys
The first time Nile played Scrabble with the others also ended up being the last.Â
âScrabble?â Joe repeated, when Nile asked. âAre you sure you want to go there?â
Nile squinted. âItâs just Scrabble.â
âOh, itâs never just Scrabble,â Joe muttered, which explained nothing. âBut you know what? Itâs been a while since we last played, I think itâs time.â
âTime for what?â Andy peered over his shoulder and let out an actual cackle when she caught sight of the box. âOh boy. Someone call Nicky.â
âUm,â Nile said, just as Nicky came in. Booker slumped in a moment later, clearly nursing several choice bruises received during training. When his eyes landed on the box, he groaned aloud.Â
âWhy are we playing Scrabble again?â he said plaintively. âI thought we banned it in the sixties.â
âNile wants to play,â Joe said significantly. âSo weâre all going to be very civil and humane about this.â He said this mock-pointedly at Nicky, who sniffed.Â
âAs if you were much better,â he said.Â
âMy love, we agreed that we wouldnât use words from before the turn of the century.â
âNicky has a great memory,â Andy confided to Nile as Joe and Nicky bickered, leaning back with the amused air of a cat who had found its favourite playtoy. âIâm pretty sure he still remembers every word heâs ever learnt.ââ
âAnd he uses them in Scrabble?â
âOh yeah,â Booker said grimly. âWith great impunity.â
âLetâs play already!â Andy said loudly, downing a glass of something that was hopefully water, given that sheâd reached her alcohol quota for the day.Â
âCan we please stick to modern-day English,â Nile begged.Â
âDefine âmodern dayâ,â Nicky said, just as Booker said loudly, âYes, seconded.â
âDo not bet anything,â Joe advised her in an aside, just as Nicky said to Booker, âTakeaway privileges for a year.âÂ
âYouâre on,â Booker said, looking significantly more enthused than he had a moment ago. âGet ready to eat pizza for one whole year, Nicky.â
âThis one time, Booker was in charge of takeout dinners and we ate shitty pizza for a whole week,â Joe supplied to Nile. âNicky never forgave him for it.â
âOh boy, Nickyâs really playing to win this time,â Andy muttered.Â
And really, it all went downhill from there.
***
Two spilt beers later, one disagreement about the definition of âmodern-dayâ that had gone to verbally sparring, and one disagreement about slang that had to be taken outside, Nile thoroughly regretted her decision.Â
âWhat the fuck is âYOLOâ,â Andy demanded, actually shaking her fist a little at Joe. âThat isnât a word, Joe.â
âYes it is,â he argued, waggling his phone. âThe Internet says âyesâ.â
âThe Internet is wrong.â
Everyone looked at Nile, who had somehow become the adjudicator and arbiter of justice.Â
âItâs a word,â she decided. Chaos erupted at the table, as it had for the past half hour.
âSee?â Joe crowed loudly. Andy skulled the rest of her not-water and scowled.Â
âHmm,â was all Nicky said. The hairs on the back of Nileâs neck stood up slightly, which was vindicated when he considered the tiles in front of him. Several tiles clacked into place on the board. When Nicky sat back, it was with a flourish, that said: Go on. Iâll wait.
Booker leaned over to look, and promptly spluttered in outrage. âThat is not a word. Nile, tell him!â
THOT, read the tiles. Nile choked on air.Â
âMy love, are you sure thatâs a word?â Joe said, already reaching for his phone.Â
Andy snorted. âThat cannot be a word.â
Nile winced. âItâŚis? Only in the loosest of senses.â Nile stared at Nicky, who smiled back innocently. âHow do you even know this word?â
Nicky shrugged. âWhen we researching for that job in the nightclub, in Madrid, Booker and I split up the sites we searched for intel.â
âAre you telling me while I had to read ten million dusty newspapers, you were learning young people slang on the Internet?â Booker said incredulously. âNicky!â
âThe intel was good, was it not?â
âYes, yes, yes but what does it even mean?â Andy groused. âI stopped keeping up to date after the mortals came up with âfuckâ.â
Everyone looked at Nile. She groaned, but there was no escaping it.Â
She told them.Â
***
âNo modern day slang,â Andy ground out, while Nile patiently typed up the new rules. âIf the word canât be found in an official dictionary, itâs not going in.â
âJust so you know, some of the slang terms still make it into the official dictionaries,â Nile said.Â
âI fucking hate modern day words.âÂ

Sometimes Andy and Joe eat popcorn while watching Book work on a mission.
my creation: Booker is asking: âHave you turned on your laptop, Mrs Dubois?â
You were born of a sacrilegious union. Your green dragon mom never figured the knight she seduced while masquerading as a noblewoman was a silver dragon in disguise. Youâd no idea either, born a human orphan. When your dragon blood awoke, so did the dangers which all your heritage entails.
âI was born half dragon.â
âOh shit, whatâs the other half?â
âDifferent dragon.
#âiâm two halfs dragonâ âthatâs just being a whole dragonâ ânoâ
âim two halves dragonâ âthats just being a whole dragonâ âYOUD FUCKING THINK SO WOULDNT YOUâ
Random Person on Sanctum: So, how long have you guys been together?
Bellamy: Oh, weâre notâ
Clarke: Three years. Or over a century, depending how you count. Â
Bellamy: What?!
Clarke: Yup. Remember when we committed genocide together?
Bellamy: âŚYeahâŚ
Clarke: Thatâs as much of a marriage proposal as marriage proposals get.Â
Bellamy: *Turns to Random Person on Sanctum, eyes wide, then shrugs* Guess, weâve been together for three years.Â
*through gritted teeth* every day i choose to be kind *barely restraining myself from violence* i choose to have compassion *tamping down the vicious bloodlust inside me* i choose to care and to be kind and to love
If you are a Pacifist and do not hold the ability to do real tangible violence you are not a Pacifist, you are HARMLESS.
levels of headcanon:
This is heavily supported by text/subtext and is likely what the creators intended for me to get from thisÂ
this is sort of supported by the text and could, conceivably be what the creators intended for me to get from the text/subtext
there is no evidence either way
there is slight evidence against my headcanon, but I donât care
Iâve stopped giving a crap about canon
Donât forget the wild card, âThis is heavily supported by the text but is nevertheless obviously not what the creators intended.â

Keep up the pressure. They will get away with whatever they want at this rate.
calling aoc a firebrand as if hers is anything but the only reasonable response in this situation. I'm so fed up with this woman being labeled a radical leftist lunatic when she's one of the few politicians I've seen who demonstrate even a modicum of critical thinking and common sense
Iâm having The Old Guard feelings.
I really love that moment where Nicky holds the automatic over his shoulder without looking and Joe immediately moves to drop the pistol and take it. Itâs a beautiful moment of wordless communication, but also I think itâs Nicky knowing Joe isnât as good a shot as him. Nicky keeps his pistol, he doesnât need an automatic. Nicky might even be opposed to automatics bc it takes the *artistry* out of shooting. Heâs like someone who refuses to ever use automatic focus on a camera, he wants full control.
But Nicky knows Joe is a melee person whoâs kind of an unreliable shot, so heâs looking out for his husband â and Joe knows it too so he takes Nickyâs shade without complaint lol
