Plurality sure is something

Funny that like. Some people can just. Use plurality as an excuse for their actions?

Amnesia barriers aren't an excuse.

"Violent" alters aren't an excuse.

For us, nothing just Happened for No Reason. Our brain responds to percieved threats in the moment. Whatever the fallout is, we take accountability together.

I went down that path of excusing actions due to alters and it got me in a Lot of trouble, and I lost a Lot of friends. It's not a fun path and it's definitely not a Vibe you should go for.

Whatever transpired and whether you remember it or not, if it hurt someone or made people uncomfortable, take fucking responsibility.

Don't just go "oh, that was [x]", "oh it was because [x] doesn't like [y]", etc etc etc

If one person messes up, it's up to you, as the main host and essentially frontman for the system, to take responsibility and apologize for whatever damage was done.

Don't blame it on amnesia barriers. Don't blame it on alters. And absolutely don't try and sweep it under the rug and go about your business.

That's just cowardly. And we do not have sympathy for cowards.

“System accountability” is a concept that was largely created and pushed by recovered/integrated systems [and the popular blogs + YouTube channels run by them]. It’s routinely used to punch down on systems who still have heavy amnesia barriers, who are in active crisis, or who simply haven’t integrated enough to have full communication or shared memory. Those recovered systems get to frame it as moral common sense because they can already do it. For everyone else it’s just another stick to beat non-recovered systems with and call it “responsibility.” That is textbook ableism against people whose disorder is still actively impairing them.

Amnesia barriers and alters that act independently are not “excuses.” They’re symptoms of a complex dissociative disorder. Treating them like personal moral failings is the same recovery-gatekeeping bullshit that keeps getting recycled in the popular DID/OSDD spaces.

And “this isn’t a vibe you should go for”? It’s a fucking mental illness, not an aesthetic. The fact that you framed it that way already tells me everything.

And an endogenic supporter…yeah, suddenly the rest of this makes a lot more sense. You’re willing to extend more credibility to people who reject, appropriate, and make a joke out of the actual disorder than to systems whose experiences with DID/OSDD don’t fit your preferred model of recovery. From Jhonen to Johnny, you somehow managed to miss the entire fucking point of the character you claim to identify with. Your source would HATE you.

Do you really think that if an alter/headmate/whatever term you wanna use hurts someone, you don’t need to take any accountability? If you hurt someone, you apologize unless you are one of those people who don’t think they’ve ever done anything wrong. Even with heavy amnesia barriers, if someone goes up to you, a friend perhaps, and says “hey you hurt my feelings with xyz” would you really say “sorry that wasn’t me, that was [name] and I’m not gonna apologize because I didn’t do it” Do you hear how annoying of a person you gotta be to act like that?

I understand if you don’t remember and that’s scary, hell, we’ve had this exact scenario happen and we were so upset because we couldn’t remember what happened or how we upset them, etc. But we still tried our best to understand what happened and apologized because we hurt that person, even if it was a specific alter. Do you really want to be the person that makes excuses for every little thing? You are just being a jerk to someone else just because you don’t remember doing something wrong. I’m sorry for whatever happened that made you act like this and believe yourself to be so superior.

Ronin Alpha helped me calm down last night so I’ve been doing good rn

when all you see about your existence is how annoying or difficult or unmanageable it must be, it gets grating. we have NEVER seen a polyfrag post get anywhere close to our amount of members, because apparently anything over 1,500 is completely unmentionable. and even then, polyfragmented medians, spiritual systems, or people who have always been polyfrag are just not talked about.

our most modest estimate is that we have 100,000 members. our more accurate estimate is probably around 500,000. and there is systems who are WAY larger than this, somebody reading this is probably pushing the concept of infinity to a newfound limit!

outside of community spaces, the medical journals about polyfragmentation are so clinical, exclusive, and honestly inaccurate a lot of the time. there's more to multiplicity than just hosts and protectors and persecutors and fully-fledged people who can still somehow be boiled down to a convenient, palatable archetype. (i have thoughts on roles but that will be another post)

so many systems don't or can't have defined or consistent roles, origins, identities, internal communication, switches, structure, innerworlds, amnesia, opinions, etc (or have these things at all!!!) and expecting polyfrag systems to fit into the already narrow and stigmatized definition of what you think a system should be is honestly just plain screwed up.
