I've been moving away from clinical terms over the years! I have a bunch of nicknames for everyone. they're my crew, my bunch of idiots, my lot, my flatmates, the others, etc. if you're just talking about One person though, headmate works fine. names are great too if you're talking about someone specific! I have nothing against the term "alter" but it feels a little impersonal and vague to me. [: AND YES! they are all pleasant to me. it was extremely rocky the first few years after we all figured stuff out. me and phoebe butted heads for a LONG time. martin and I also didn't get along well. but our communication and relationships are pretty good these days! phoebe and I are best friends forever now and we kill each other with hammers for fun

yuppp! most of my crew don't like using my account, because it can feel a little weird to borrow it from me. we all have very separate identities, so if someone feels like blogging, they'll use their own blog. that doesn't stop some of the others from reblogging to my main for notes though. greedy... I don't usually share everyones' urls because ill intentioned people tend to target them despite not targeting me. kind of shit! BUT sunny is @silly-solar-robot, francis is @chocolate-fish, and alistair is @astronomy-addiction. there's more, but that's not my place to share!

eeehh. complicated! this is the term that's most well known when it comes to systems, and it's MUCH easier to say "I have DID" than it is to say "I'm a system but I don't experience complete amnesia between switches and I'm currently so far along with my mental health journey that we're barely disordered anymore and this is just how we live". if you're being technical, what I have is most likely OSDD-1B [: but again, I'm moving away from clinical terms for myself whenever I can! this is just my life. it's unusual, but it's normal.

YUPPPP to a ridiculous degree. like francis (she/they) gets gender dysphoria from my (trans man, pre-everything) body. no overall gender/sexuality consensus at all either. some of us are aroace, some of us only like men, some of us have no clue.... everyone having different gender situations makes transition choices tricky, but we manage [: some of the others are even "technically" trans, e.g. sunny, who spent the first few years of her existence as a man but came to the realisation a few years later that she's a girl. that being said, it's important to be aware that this doesn't translate to bodily experiences and oppression! nobody in my crew would be affected by transmisogyny in the outside world. sunny has faced some pretty shit transphobic remarks online, but that's about it.

VERY MUCH SO. but we also share some similarities!!! think of it like growing up in the same household. because we all did! if you have siblings (though my bunch aren't like siblings, relationship wise) you might share some interests with them. I really like shoegaze, 80s/90s kiwi rock, and folk rock (e.g. andrew bird I think ?) while sunny is a BIG fan of kpop, 60s american pop, and 2020s EDM. also the despicable me 3 soundtrack specifically? okay crazy ā¤ļø love you girl. phoebe meanwhile is on a mission to permanently damage her hearing by 25

oh my god okay hang on. can I even remember off the top of my head. YOU'D THINK THIS WOULD BE EASY BUT IT'S LIKE TRYING TO REMEMBER ALL YOUR EXTENDED FAMILY'S NAMES OFF THE TOP OF YOUR HEAD. in no particular order: robin, sunny, francis, phoebe, jasper, alistair, beatrice, selene, moon, jon, zoe, julian, circe, katie, claire, silas, sylvie, martin, betty, and nat. SO MANY. RIDICULOUS. SCARES ME A LITTLE. though out of everyone, me, sunny, francis, phoebe, alistair, jasper, jon and julian are the most talkative and are out and about the most.

me and them!!! we're very very separate. it genuinely doesn't make sense to refer to us collectively when you're just talking to one of us at any given time. it'd be like asking one member of a flatting situation "do you like cycling?" while meaning The Entire Flat. we're just a bunch of people sharing one noggin! it's nicer to talk to each of us as individuals. we don't have a collective name (beyond just "menagerie system" for whenever that's useful) or pronouns. (a guide I FINALLY made like last year after SEVEN YEARS OF PROCRASTINATION. it's a little inaccurate! jasper now uses they/she, and sunny exclusively uses she/her. I think everything else is up to date though. NO clue if betty is actually still here or if she even looks like that anymore. she was very new when I made this, and sometimes people show up and disappear very soon after. the rest of my crew have all been around for over half a decade at LEAST, if not most of my life.)

Update on my grandma: I told her my hair was standing up, but instead of straight line it was diagonal and she saidĀ āThatās okay, youāve never been straight!ā and then laughed so hard at her own joke I thought she was going to drop the phone
and this isn't even getting into harm that's genuinely necessary! i read a book recently that was intended to educate people in healthcare about medical trauma, written by a medical professional who found that there weren't existing resources to help her cope with the aftermath of the extremely traumatic c section that saved her life. the whole tone of the book was "i know you've never thought about this before, but walk with me through this case study" and it's aimed at other medical professionals! it's aimed at the people who are doing this harm, and so many of them think that people aren't allowed to find it harmful just because it's necessary!
so many trauma resources assume that your trauma is from a specific person or people who treated you in a way that society deems unacceptable. if your trauma doesn't fit that profile then you're left sitting there like. idk i dont think most of this stuff applies to me. where are the resources for people like me.
if you were ever scared or in pain and were told that you had to grin and bear it because it's necessary for you to do the thing that scares and hurts you, you are allowed to say that that was traumatic. you are allowed to say that you were scared and in pain and that even if this was the least bad option, even if it was lifesaving, it still was not okay. something being necessary does not inherently make it okay.
i think i still have mild trauma from a dentistry-related thing some years back, and it was completely voluntary and i wanted it, just, the experience was actually really upsetting. like, totally worth it in overall outcomes, just. wow, yeah. i do not want to ever do that again.
i have more than one thing that saved my life and traumatized me.
I'm a juvenile diabetic: relatedly, I used to be crippled by CPTSD. it turns out, infants dislike needles, and having your primary caregivers administer them daily can be bad for those relationships. I had no sense of trauma as the etiology of my issues for a while, because I couldn't find any 'abuse' in my history.
I remember talking to a psychologist: guy was like "are you absolutely sure you weren't abused as a child? I am literally a therapist, so you can tell me". when I demurred, he was like "truly? because you really really come across like you were, and I meet a lot of people with that history".
it was only after a parent mentioned that I'd go quiet and waxy during injections (tonic immobility, in retrospect) that I started to consider whether the lifesaving medical care I received had negative psychological effects.
This is a common gateway to pseudoscience. People experience trauma from receiving, or from seeing a loved one receive, lifesaving medical care and aren't able to find the space to process that it was necessary, the alternative was worse, AND it was really and truly awful. People who are afraid to go back. People who need accommodations to make necessary medical care less stressful and scary, and can't get them.
