years from now the gaza genocide would be in history textbooks. children will learn about it in school. people would look back at the palestinian genocide and shake their heads and think "how could it be possible that this have happened?"
it's because there are people that looked away when it was occurring. because there are people chose to ignore those suffering from hunger, hypothermia, unsanitary environments, and bombings. it's because mainstream media censored as much information about it as possible. as long as it's not happening in *our* corner of the world, it's something that *could* be ignored.
but it's not. the war has gone on for over a year. cities, actual cities, were destroyed. the list of names of the lives that are lost and the bodies that aren't found can stretch for miles. but because so many people choose not to look at that list, the damage is easy to ignore. the suffering is easy to brush off. the fact that these are people asking for help, asking for relief, can be easily dismissed.
don't look away because of the ceasefire. don't. it's not over yet. conditions are still horrible for displaced palestinians, people who have lost their homes and family members. they still need our help.
