I thought the water in the microwave was taking an awfully long time to boil. I'm aware of superheating so I didn't dare try to take it out, but I let it keep going in the hopes it would start boiling normally, but then sure enough the water exploded with enough force to blow the microwave door open. Fortunately I was standing far enough away that I only got sprayed with warm and not scalding water, and it seems nothing got damaged, just wet.
That was kinda scary though. Guess I'm putting a wooden stick in microwaved water from now on.
