This is Henry. We adopted him and his three siblings when he was 16 weeks old and he’s been my daughters best friend for the last 6.5 years.

Two weeks ago he lost interest in food and for the last two days he’s barely eaten or had anything to drink. He’s gone from 7.6kg to 5.6kg (0.5kg of that he has lost since last Friday). Last Friday we took him to the vets because he looked thinner and his eating habits changed. This is the type of cat who comes running when the fridge door opens because he wants ham or chicken or anything he can get his hands on. Every time someone sees him, the first thing that say is ‘holy shit, that’s a big cat’ so it’s hard and very sad to see him looking thin and unwell.

Today at the vets he has been admitted for tests. They have no idea what’s wrong with him other than rapid weight loss, his back legs which have dropped and seem to drag as he walks and a very high temperature. The vet said she was concerned and that he seems to be in pain and that he’s a very sick cat. Currently he is on an IV, having blood taken which I’ll know the results of at 5pm. He will need xrays and an overnight stay.

I absolutely hate to make this sort of post but I’ve seen this community do incredible things for people. I was made redundant 2 months ago and still can’t find a job despite applying for - at last count - 382 of them. I have 17 years experience yet suddenly need a degree. It’s horrible and I’m relying on government benefits to keep a roof over our heads. If anyone is able to spare anything - even a reblogged or a positive vibe for Henry - we’d be eternally grateful.
