Do we know what position Holmberg, Young, Lapointe plays? If there is no certain position I have my headcanon which I need for my Shame with rookies fic.

In my perfect world Holmberg is a center but not good enough. He has instincts but he is little cocky to take advice on other people. So Shane is perfect mentor to shape him. “ you think you good let see if you can score more me I’ll acknowledge you.(spoiler alert he didn’t score more) Shane think he is similar to Ilya in some sense. So can’t help himself to be closer to Holmberg.

Young is a defense man. He is the first rookie to ask for Shane’s help which is surprising because Shane isn’t a defense man. “If I can stop you I can stop anybody in the league. You are Shane Hollander” He doesn’t care other people’s teasing. He knows shane is the best player. (Did you hear that Rozanov) even though Shane helps him practice, He asks Chouinard’s help for Young. “I’ll help but Chouinard is a good defender he could help you more.

(Btw Chouinard Shane is bestie in the team. No one knows but they love to gossip in French)

Last but not least Lapointe. He is a left wringer. One thing everyone needs to know about Shane that He despises Tanner Dillon. You may ask why? That excuse of a hockey player should retire and never allowed on ice again. He hated him when he was on Ilya’s line. Now he despise him when he has to play in his line. So if you can’t choose your line mate you’ll grow one in lab. So that’s how he started to help Lapointe. Kid is promising, in practice he can keep up with shane no problem but in the match he looses his nerves so he messes up. His best idea was an exposure therapy so he convinces Wiebe to put Lapointe to his line. Kid thought he was gonna die but it work out when Shane helps (forces) him to score end goal of the match. So one stone two birds.

He doesn’t help Luca. That’s Ilya’s responsibility he has enough rookie to help. (He may see himself in Luca)

Luca Haas' 72 boyfriends (and counting)

This is the Luca Haas boyfriends masterpost which I will try my best to keep updated! Basically, this was born out of a desire to find out how many boyfriends we have invented for him. This is likely not complete, and always a work in progress, as I've mostly based it on the Luca Haas/Original Male Character tag on ao3 but I've noticed a few being tagged different, so if you find any boyfriends not included, slide into my dms or comment on the post with their name, link and description! If your OC is in this list and I've gotten something wrong, please also dm me with how you'd like your boyfriend to be described!

Now, I have not read all of these fics, and this is not a fic rec post. The boyfriends are listed in alphabetical order. This is also not a post or space to critique people's OC's or fics, just to celebrate the hivemind creativity of what a fandom can do with a minor character with what, ten spoken lines? I hope this post inspires everyone to give all these fics and boyfriends some love <3

The criteria for the boyfriends (and non binary partners) of Luca Haas to be included are as follows:

Not a named character from the Game Changers universe (i.e. Young, LaPointe, Cliff, Hollanov, or even Theo the Mascot Guy);

They must interact in the fic at least once OR be a central point of discussion/plot and not be a one off mention;

They must be the main pairing involving Luca (for example, boyfriends he breaks up with to be with hollanov are not included)

Endgame relationships only (not because I don't like slut era Luca, but I am defining boyfriend as a loving, long-term relationship. This also means this list excludes any abusive fuckers who don't deserve the title of boyfriend)

They must have a name. I know there are a few fics that are set up for Luca to have an OC boyfriend, but the OC has not been introduced yet; I will add them to the list when they are named!

Now I want to say things may trigger some people but I know we love the idea of codependency for Shane and Ilya. They deserve to spend time together as a couple. But they need their own time. It isn’t because they don’t love each other or they have marriage problems. Shane is autistic and Ilya has depression. Sometimes Ilya’s bad days require him to have alone time because seeing Shane trying to help makes him feel guilty. Sometimes Shane needs to have no one to around to decompress not because he doesn’t want Ilya. But his nervous system won’t stop working even his husband breathes so needs alone time.

And I am a firm believer that they need different friends and friend groups, especially after Shane moves to Ottawa but that’s a another post

I had a dream Shane and Ilya were adopting a baby and Shane saw a toddler with a congenital muscle condition and he fell in love with the boy. Everybody (besides Ilya) tried to convince him to adopt a healthy child but Shane was that’s my baby. Of course Ilya saw Shane with the kid and he was ready to die for them.

The most important thing about Troy’s arc was he accepted that even he apologized forgiveness wasn’t given. And he made his peace with it Concert scene with Ryan was the perfect example of this. I checked the book got screen shots.

Troy knew one apology wasn’t enough cover to what he did so he was ready to apologize many times .

And he knew he apologizing wasn’t mean much ( Troy’s word) I think he understood apology needs action to back it up but Ryan may not want that

He also separately apologized being a homophobic. ( I know it’s bare minimum) I also he knew him being repressed gay wasn’t a excuse for the things he did.

And last but not least, he wasn’t expecting forgiveness from Ryan. That wasn’t his intention. He wanted to apologize because he knew whatever he did was not okay.

Look do I think Troy’s redemption arc was enough? No. Would I be harsher to him as author? I would make him work for it. But Troy was never in a mind set that he deserved to be forgiven because he changed. He knew that change didn’t mean anything to people that he hurt. He couldn’t erase the past action. I mean he was kinda surprised that he got his fairytale ending with good team and adorable boyfriend. Because he still believed he didn’t deserve it.

After writing about the fandom putting their feelings in wrong characters. I wanted to write about how Ilya should see everything that Shane was scared happened to his boyfriend. I understand why ilya was struggling to understand that Shane didn’t want to come out. How it was multiplied with his depression and affected his self esteem. In the moment he was in lowest point but I feel Shane’s lowest point came after the Fan mail and the “tripping” so I want no I need to see Ilya seeing shane crushing out. Because in Ilya’s mind Shane was living the dream which from his perspective that makes sense. Shane had everything that Ilya didn’t. A family, best friend who knows about them, a strong team. However Shane’s anxieties being his worse enemy he is already going through what if scenarios in his beautiful mind. It is like bad prophecy. Btw everything that he was scared of happened to him. So I need Ilya to see this. Because they need it this talk maybe confrontation. Resentment is the worst enemy of a relationship and I feel it’s creeping its way to theirs

Everything going on with Troy and Shane discourse,I realize we love Shane and we all recognize he treated unfairly in the series. But we kinda put in wrong characters(Troy, Yuna,Hayden) I mean sure they all have shortcomings or wrongs but they’re not the evil that fandom makes them to be.

Yuna loves him and cares for him deeply. Probably when he was younger she pushed him to better. Only because Shane wanted to be pushed. ( I have similar relationship with my mom) at the end she supported him. Only took what? A dinner and a vodka to accept his (villainous $boyfriend to family and be there for him even Shane couldn’t. So no she is not the evil you wanted her to be

Hayden is his best friend. He is not the bestest of friends sure but that guy care for Shane deeply. Love him. Of course he has his opinion about the person he is dating. Hayden crosses some line with some comments but he never overtly says something mean about Ilya. Hayden spends time with Ilya. Most important part is he trust him with his kids.( I wouldn’t trust car keys if I hate someone let alone with my children) so yeah He is not the brightest bulb but he wants to be there for them. He makes mistakes but I feel he tries as well.

And last but not least Troy Barrett. When this discourse first started I loved it. Enough angst to hurt but at same time gives Shane to be bitchy ( he needs to be bitchy just as a treat) so it was perfect. But it got out of hand.

I genuinely believe it takes time for Shane to be part of the team. I think gor a season he calls centaurs Ilya’s team. Even out loud sometimes. With Troy everything is little bit different. Troy is more like shane than ilya. If I dare he is like their kid in sense of characteristic trait. He is particular, he is an asshole. He overthinks, he tries to hide himself with harsh attitudes. Abd I think he feels so much too. I think it would be fun for Ilya and Shane to realize that.

Post that I see about this is that Shane would be angry because he did everything right but he didn’t get fairytale ending but Troy did. I think that makes sense in some context, however I don’t think shane would be mad at Troy. He would feel weird even salty which it make him feel guilty but at the Troy wasn’t reason he didn’t get the his fairytale. It was the Hockey and his team. Two things that he almost sacrificed everything for. But we as a reader and lover(lol) of Shane cannot punish them enough. Yeah metros/ voyageursmay not win a game in the fanfics but enough punishment so that makes us unsatisfied. So we find easier target to punish. Because we all know Troy would be devastated if his close friend’s husband/ a fellow closeted gay guy suffered or still suffering because of him.

I can keep going about Troy’s redemption whether enough or not but this is already too long lol

Shane Hollander needs friends or a friend. He needs casual friend that he doesn’t have any past with. A friend who is not his husband, a friend who didn’t out him or pester him to leave his boyfriend. Or ex-girlfriend. Someone casual.If possible someone who isn’t close with Ilya.

But he needs a friend that he can be himself, and complain about Ilya being messy or his mom is forcing him to do collaboration that he hates. Even his insecurities about his marriage. Everything and nothing. He needs someone who will call him out if being stupid or careless. Assure him when he lost in his anxieties. Of course Ilya does all of them but they both deserve a village. I need Shane to have that.

He lost his stability in the Long Game. I need him find that with a good friend again. And also he needs see more Gay people.

the long game problem truly could've been solved if it was treated more like the Orpheus Eurydice situation that it is. Shane is just as miserable being separated as Ilya is, but He's doing the very logical thing of looking ahead and focusing on the possibility of a safe future where they make it out together, all while desperately craving that future could be now but knowing thats just not possible for them, because first they must Escape Hell, separately but together. whereas what Ilya needs is the very emotionally charged Idea of being Seen, of being Heard, in a situation where hes showing not telling to someone who has their back turned, so While Ilya is under the impression that Shane doesn't see how miserable he is, Shane is under the impression that they have both agreed to be miserable apart now in order to be happy together later.
