I've been knitting some tiny doll-sized mittens like this

But they're annoying to put on doll hands, especially the more elegant sculpts with separate fingers. So, I realised, I can just take some spare mtm hands; the boring pose is actually useful for once; and use a craft knife to reduce the peg a bit to make the hands more easily swappable without having to heat them up every time.

Put the hand inside the mitten, and just swap the whole thing whenever I wanna put on or take off the dolls' mittens.

I already use MengF hands on most of my dolls, and they're easy to take off without heating. So I'll just take off the regular hand and replace it with the mitten hand! The skin tone match doesn't really matter since the hand will be hidden under the mitten anyway.

worst case scenario, everyone waits it out, stalks the listings for prices lowering and buys when the prices have hit retail (or lower tbh). best case scenario, they all make massive returns to mattel and mattel has no choice, but to do another drop to get rid of the inventory and everyone can get another chance at getting this set

I've spent so long poring over concept art, watching the butchered Lost movie clips on Youtube and looking up different things for Euna that it feels surreal to me to finally finish her.

The clearest images of Euna's design is actually her movie design, which has a more adventurous look and turning her design to a tunic and her wearing leggings, while the doll esque art of her is pretty tiny and hard to read.

From what I could see though, while they did pay homage to Euna being Korean, it definitely had that mid 2010s flair of modern wear and the budget cutting, so I mainly took inspiration from the use of colour and seeing what inspired her design myself.

Since Ever After High took a lot of inspiration from late 2000s Lolita fashion, I also wanted Euna to draw a bit more from that well by making her outfit a bit more of a hanbok design filtered through that aesthetic.

From what I can tell, Euna wanted to live a more fairytale life and is why she got herself in a big predictament, so I wanted to lean into the dreamy fairytale aesthetics for her outfit since I can't exactly replicate the 3d sculpted pieces and such.

Her outfit consists of a high collar sleeveless dress and a hanbok jacket and while I couldn't replicate the design of her outfit, adding a lace overlay really gives it a bit of depth I feel like.

Her norigae was just a heart bead that I did a custom knot on and used thread for the tassels but I do like the pop of colour it adds to her look.

Her nine tails were just tubes of fake fur, but I know if she had been a real doll, they would have been sculpted and plugged in.

no leaves, but plenty of eyes.

inspired by me spacing out on a long drive & staring at trees. this happened earlier this year, and birches ended up growing leaves before i finished the doll.

This morning, I drove an hour through the gloom for the sake of an estate sale that promised to be the inventory of an online toy seller.

The stock available was amazing: ReMent doll-sized food, Gloria furniture packs, NRFB Kelly playsets, tin litho houses. I walked in, I picked up one box, I paid and called it done.

Young Sweethearts, produced in 1976, was one of Mattel's efforts at a non-Barbie fashion doll line. Melinda and Michael are notable for being highly articulated long before Mattel attempted serious articulation for Barbie. They are hard-to-find.

I thought because it’s a pride month release, the box would be like the Howliday dolls, a design based around pride month, ya know? Like how Bratz did as well-

But no, it’s a normal G1 signature box. And I LOVE THAT! 🙏💕

Because Val never got a signature Doll (he only got the collector of course) and Spelldon never got a Doll at all!

But they were meant to! They were meant to get together and have dolls in g1! But of course that never happened… until now. After years! They are finally getting what they deserved all along, and it not being a fancy collector pride box SPEAKS VOLUMES it says- “this isn’t special, they are a normal couple just like any other, this is what was always meant to happen, and we are sorry it didn’t.” 

And I think that’s beautiful. <3
