I'm thinking of buying a doll that is supposed to represent the cheyenne tribe. I'm worried that it's cultural appropriation? She comes in the traditional dress of her tribe, but she's not made by a native person. If I do end up getting her I probably will give her modern clothes and a time-traveling type vibe... but idk man i don't want to accidentally support erasure and appropriation. thx :)
Do not buy a doll in Cheyenne dress from a doll maker who is not Native.Β
Iβm curious why they need to be in Cheyenne dress if youβre going to re-dress them anyway? I realise Iβm getting to this probably *way* late, since I havenβt logged in since forever; a good rule of thumb is that if you feel the need to askΒ βIs this... [cultural appropriation/racist, etc]β, then thereβs a very good chance that it is.
