the way people claim bobby drakes assumed heterosexuality before he came out was like, a core part of his character or something as if any of the women he dated were consequential to his character at all. these people dont even remember he dated polaris they just wanna be homophobic. sorry i cant shut up about iceman being gay people be pissing me off like cant us queers have ONE iconic and recognizable x-man. i love northstar but people who dont read comics dont know who he is. like i genuinely dont care if they "change" a characters sexuality (nothing is changed when its not even stated and its heteronormative to assume heterosexuality) especially if it adds depth to a character and tells an underrepresented story which icemans coming out in fact does do. maybe ill shut up about icemans queer story soon but WHO KNOWS hes important to me and people who stopped liking him because hes gay are FAKE!!! only REAL iceman fans allowed

genuinely cannot grasp understanding of the massive homophobic cope that is "jean grey brainwashed iceman to be gay" like genuinely what is wrong with you to believe that. suddenly repression, overcompensation, and compulsory heterosexuality dont exist when youre talking about bobby drake coming out. people can accept characters being written differently than the original creators intended but as soon as a man who has ~mysteriously~ never held down a successful relationship with a woman is written as gay they take the incredibly terrible stance of another character "turning him gay". Jesus christ. iceman is gay can we get over it already

ok guys i read wiccan and hulkling: raid of ultron and it was great and silly and i loved it. BUT. why the actual fuck is there a variant showing david and tommy together when theyve been broken up in the comics for two years atp. david isnt relevant at all to the comic and isnt mentioned at all, nothing about tommy's love life is relevant. the only thing that could POSSIBLY be related is we see tommy taking and hiding the marriage advice book behind his back. which could easily just be him taking it to tease billy with. is it not kinda queerbait-y to put thinkfast on the cover like that even if we have so many actual gay couples on the interior of the comic? like why not put one of the lesbian couples on the cover next to wickling instead? idk

its SOOOO WEIRD being more in touch with comics side of marvel and not interacting at all with online mcu perception because ill just stumble across apparently a common enough opinion for people to be talking about it and just be like huh ok wow.... like i finally got around to agatha all along bc i like wiccan and people get mad at billy for.. doing bad things? or something? like sorry marvel is the "everyone has done at least one (1) bad thing" land. blah blah throwing stones blah blah glass houses etc etc like your fav has definitely done something gross too.. mcu onlys get well soon i pray for you guys over there seems rough

y'all i hate when i have an opinion and then that opinion is also shared by people who use it to be homophobic... like yes i hated iceman omega but NOT because it was overtly gay, but because it was WAY too corny for my taste and uninteresting. and i also dont like how luciano vecchio draws bobby even though i usually like his art. or like i dont really like joe locke casted as wiccan (SO FAR, im still catching up on mcu stuff so i havent finished the show so its possible ill change my mind) and its not because he acts more feminine and outwardly gay hes just much more outgoing and i think his sass should be more sprinkled in instead of every time he talks. also locke's acting just falls kinda flat for me he doesnt feel at all intimidating when he should be (so far, at least) and where is billys nerdiness?? sorry for rambling. fuck homophobes

not an x-men specific post but i feel like people often ignore the beauty and power of interpretation when it comes to writing. isnt it beautiful that you can put out a story, and even if it wasnt your intent, people who often dont feel seen or heard DO feel seen and heard by your story? the fact that a story can diffuse through all different kinds of people, and people's different experiences can give them different takeaways and meaning? often people will say "its not that deep" or "it wasnt intended that way" but i think the author's intent matters very little unless you can actually pick up on what the author is trying to convey through the text itself. and if people resonate with some subtle and unintentional textual components, isnt that pretty cool?
