It’s almost time for Ray Vecchio Day! Once again, in celebration of RayV’s semi-canonical birthday of September 21st, we are inviting you to come out and get your Vecchio on! Got a limerick, or a rec list, or a hoard of screencaps? Come show ‘em off!

I debated whether this fest should run this year, but I’ve decided to go ahead with it - with a few changes! This year, I’m going to ask that all entries get posted either to AO3 or directly to the dreamwidth comm. I’m also not going to do a community-generated work or a round up post this year!

However! I also think it would be great if people could leave prompts for others to work from if they need some inspiration this year! If you have a Ray Vecchio or David Marciano themed prompt, please leave it in the comments on the dreamwidth announcement post for creators to peruse! Creators, if you see a prompt you like, please reply to it claiming that prompt and be sure to credit the prompter for the idea in your post. 

Prompts are entirely optional; you don’t have to leave a prompt if you don’t want to, and you don’t have to have claimed a prompt to participate.

Here are the guidelines, such as they are:

All entries must be in celebration of Ray Vecchio from due South or the actor who portrays him, David Marciano.

All entries must be shareable–locked vids must provide passwords, etc.

All entries must be posted either to the dSVB comm or to the AO3 collection.

Entries must comply with dS Virtual Bar comm rules. Please use your best judgment and when in doubt, ask!

The AO3 collection will close on September 22nd at 8am Chicago time. If you miss this time but still want to post to the AO3 collection, please contact Mission (thisaintbc on dreamwidth, missionlameturtle#7625 on discord, or email me at [email protected]).

The 2021 AO3 collection is up and running.

Ray Kowalski turns off the engine and takes a slow deep breath.  When he took this undercover assignment, he knew he’d have a mountie as a partner, but the roommate thing was unexpected.  But what could he do? The guy’s apartment went up in flames leaving him homeless.  He literally had nowhere else to live.  So now, he’s got an actual wolf and an impossibly hot guy living in his apartment and all he’s saying is if he can’t take advantage of that (being the impossibly hot mountie, not the wolf) in the way he’s fantasized about ever since he met him, then at least can he please have this?

“Okay Fraser, they charge way too much for these memberships, right?  And in a way we’re both brothers, like we’re both in law enforcement so that makes us brothers-in-arms, right?”

“Then lovers then.” The words are out of Ray’s mouth without the consideration to consult his brain first.  He’s eyes widen, shocked by his own words.

To his surprise, Fraser gives him a reluctant nod.  “That could work Ray.  That only leaves one problem though.”

“Yeah, and what’s that Fraser?”

“We’re not actually lovers, so that would still be lying.”

And it’s something that this impossible man who is impossibly handsome has apparently no problem with people thinking they’re together, but lying, lying’s the deal breaker.  Ray Kowalski’s never been so aggrieved and yet turned on at the same time.  Fuck caution.  He’s gotta know now.

“And what if we were actually lovers, Fraser?”

“Well then Ray, we’d not be lying when we fill out the gym applications.” Fraser makes it sound so matter of fact.  God this man is going to kill them.

“So if we did it, right here in the parking lot, you’d be cool with going in and asking for the discount?”

“Well,” Fraser reasoned in a tone, that so damn fucking reasonable tone, “if we had intercourse in the gym parking lot we’d but undoubtable breaking many of Chicago’s decency laws resulting in our inevitable arrest, but yes, after we’ve done our jailtime, we would be able to apply for the gym membership discount.”
