various alts that i didn't think were strong enough to include in the final:

alt 1 has lyrics from Christmas Kids by Roar because that song was what initially inspired me to work on this piece. alt 2 is the same except for the last line where the font is different... for reasons. you may recognize it if you read the comic :)

i have tried to pack a lot of imagery alluding to theories/observations i've had in the past here, i hope this makes sense to anyone who isn't me haha

the entire piece is monochromatic and done in various shades of warm purple and red, as well as having telephone cords frame it. the boss of the lonely hearts so far has only been seen talking through a phone and warm purple was the color his speech bubble used (+ i am 100% confident that i got this color right) so i felt it would be appropriate to include here

there are two telephone cords - one black and one white - mostly for visual interest purposes but also because i have a somewhat wacky theory concerning the possible connection between mood indigo('s user) and the boss. interestingly enough they lead to the same base

the panels in the background are the main point of the piece and i'll try to explain those in the clearest way possible while keeping it brief:

stand world branches overlapped on top of ripples. this comes from my theory that stand world energy is either equivalent or similar to hamon/ripple in mechanics (there is canon evidence to suggest this as in the jojo manga stands can also be referred to as yuhamon/ghostly ripple and are a representation of the user's life force) and that this will be important to both jordan's development and further story events

a backdrop of black USS pickerel (ss-524) submarines. the actual model of the subs is not important, i simply chose it because it would've been time appropriate as the USS pickerel was re-deployed in vietnam on january 17, 1968

this is an edited photo of the surface of the sun with a few sunspots. continuing from the idea i established in the first panel, if stand world energy is similar to/equal to hamon, then it would be reasonable to suggest that the peak of stand power would be able to approach the peak of hamon, in this case the power of the sun. considering that the cold war was at its peak during the events of crimson jungle and the existing references to the manhattan project (see raoul quoting oppenheimer in chapter 22 and the title of chapter 26) i believe that the end point of jordan's/stand energy potential would be a force that's as strong as the nuclear fusion happening in the sun's core. Yes, I think the Lonely Hearts are making Stand nukes. I'm dead serious. to what end? i am figuring that out right now LOL
