brennan, with a thousand yard stare: I Am Having A Good Fun Time
the only thing more powerful than a weird little girl is a weird middle aged woman. the only thing more powerful than a weird middle aged woman is a weird old lady. and the only thing more powerful than a weird old lady is a weird little girl. thus the world is balanced.
—Emily Axford creating yet another iconic character
Maya C. Popa, from “Dear Life”, Wound Is the Origin of Wonder
Trauma didn't make me nice, I consciously made me nice because I don't want anyone else to suffer like I did. Trauma didn't make me strong, I made me strong. Don't you dare ever tell me my trauma made me anything but scared, broken, and confused. Don't give credit to the abusers for me being a good person. They didn't make me good, I made myself good.

Nikita Gill, from Your Heart is the Sea: Poems; "The Difference Between Alone and Lonely,"
hope isn’t something you just have, it’s something you sink your teeth into like an animal so it doesn’t get away
I think we need to appreciate this part of Brennan Lee Mulligan's WIRED interview a lot more:
"The evangelical right in this country needs to manufacture outrage to hold onto its voting block. [The satanic panic about DnD] was arbitrary, as the targets of their outrage always are. Fight the power."
vampirism poses the question "what if there was a fundamental, horrible, unending well of want in your soul that, if truly satisfied, would lead to great pain for all those you hold closest and, in turn, their absolute and total revilement of you?" and naturally as a person with no problems I don't relate to this in any way at all.
vampirism also poses the question "what if someone you loved, through no fault of their own, needed something from you, and giving it to them and seeing them happy provided you the greatest joy, and you were the only one who could do it, but at the same time it was slowly draining all your life out of you?" which is also a completely unrelatable idea to me because I'm a normal person with no issues.
calling my lover "mine" but not in the way that my toothbrush or notebook are mine, mine in the way my neighborhood is mine, and also everybody else's, "mine" like mine to tend to, mine to care for, mine to love. "mine" not like possession but devotion.
Not "belongs to me"; "belongs with me."
this is very sexy

You know, I've never found "sexily luring men to their deaths" to be an appealing power fantasy in the way that many women seem to. And thinking about why, I think it's because there is very little overlap between the categories of "Men I would want to see dead" and "Men I would want to spend any amount of time paying close personal attention to."
Like, if I'm going to do a magically-enhanced striptease to draw a man into my cave/grotto/what-have-you, it's going to be so that I can play with his hair while we feed each other sushi and raspberries.
Whereas if I need to kill a man, I'm going to use a sniper rifle, or piece of lead pipe.
the "i definitely do NOT have feelings for them in any way shape or form" while obviously crushing on them trope might be cliché to you. it's about being doomed from the start, the desperate denial of the starved self, the tragic inevitably of love to me tho
"i'm not in love with them" oh, honey. you are already so ruined. you have been ruined from the moment you met, and you will be ruined long after you part. your attempts to hide are futile. you cannot escape that which is everywhere and everything. love as a punishment, love as a death sentence. love as god.
