     Whether you know it or not, you’ve heard Clyde Stubblefield.  While the man himself is best known as being the funky drummer for James Brown (“Give the drummer some!”), his sick breakbeat groove at 5:25 of James Brown’s song (not ironically also called) “Funky Drummer,” is the most sampled drum beat in hip-hop.  Here’s an incomplete list:
