Oh my God, where to even start with these guys… I'll be honest, the only reason I decided to listen to these guys was because the album art caught my eye in the studio, but upon listening to this track, I discovered that they had what I can only describe as an almost Weezer-like sound, only a bit harder. They're classified as experimental-rock and post-rock, but I like the fuck out of them, whatever they are.

Foxhole's "Lamentation" from their 2008 album We the Wintering Tree brings an interesting new approach to the genre of post-rock, by adding on to the traditional instrumental lineup various new instruments, such as a trumpet (this is way cool) and choral singing. This band's take on post-rock is an awesome breath of fresh air into the genre and I behoove you to check these guys out.

The Post-Timey String Band's song "The Gamble" from their self-titled album brings a surprisingly rich sound to the table while still managing to be quite catchy and well-done. If you haven't checked them out (chances are that you haven't), their Soundcloud includes performances of the entirety of the album, plus a little more. 

Russian Circles' "Death Rides a Horse" from the album Enter. This track is just so... kickass. Where to even start? Russian Circles throws the traditional rules of post-rock / post-metal to the side in lieu of giving a much more unique structure to their music, and it's definitely for the better.

Blueneck's "Seven" from their album The Fallen Host. Another example of the great, highly-underrated skill which lies buried within the genre of post-rock.

I found this group today when I was poking through our library up at the station and I found this song to be pretty nifty.

"Red Hot Blood" from Jonas Sees In Color's new album, Give Me Mine is pretty damned catchy. If you've never heard of these guys, you should definitely check them out; they're pretty awesome.

I went and saw these guys live a few nights back and I can honestly say that they put on a top-tier performance. If you haven't heard of them, which chances are you haven't, check them out at swordofthrones.bandcamp.com or like their Facebook page. 

Boards of Canada's "Dayvan Cowboy" from the album The Campfire Headphase is a shining example of the oft-overlooked talent within the genre of post-rock, the perfect kind of music to just lay back and chill to.
