So I heard my “phoenix actively repressing his feenie tendancies” headcanon stuck with you :) (if it really was my ask that brought up the concept to you)
I’m glad you like it because the whole “repressing past emotional tendencies” thing is important to me, and in how most people look back on themselves and think they were super cringe or embarrassing and want to distance themselves from that as much as they can in order to be “socially acceptable” or “normal” (which is a pretty big thing with neurodivergent people growing up and also coincides with the “Phoenix has adhd of some sort” headcanon)
And then having to connect back to their emotional side again as they get older, and having to try to recover that connection and understanding of their younger selves again
Idk it’s just a very special concept to me and I can totally see it through Phoenix and feenie too
I think I had some kind of rough idea of wanting to connect Nick and Feen in some kind of way, and then your ask sort of cemented it into something more concrete. :)
I personally don't really buy into the "Nick has ADHD" headcanon... buuuuut I do like the idea of moving his character arc in the opposite direction of what is usually expected. Instead of distancing himself from his past tendencies I really want to see him gradually becoming more okay with incorporating them again. I want Nick to be the bitter heroine of a cheesy romance movie who learns to be okay with being in love again because I am a sap like that. >:,U
I am also a sucker for inner conflict being metaphorically depicted as different parts of a character interacting with each other...
OG Nick is my fav but Feen IS SO DAMN CLOSE because he is just that fun to characterize. I would like to think that is the most honest and unfiltered part of himself and who he is at his most vulnerable.
You know that thing you can do with slightly long sleeves where you let them go just to your fingers making your hands look like cat paws...
I wonder tho...where would you take this concept? What would you do with this idea? I'm curious since you mentioned it is something very near and dear to you.
