A young woman is imprisoned in a castle by a monstrously formed prince. The servants of the castle hope for them to fall in love, and when the spell is broken they assume their prayers have been answered. They are all surprised, but nonetheless pleased, when it is revealed to them that the young woman and prince are the truest of friends, and nothing more.

They say the kingdom is ruled by an evil queen, a woman who is incapable of loving. She is unmarried, she has no consorts, and she wishes for no partner. She is the wretched queen, the heartless queen. She must hate her daughter, for her daughter is beautiful, and women are incapable of liking another woman who’s prettier than themselves. It must be for this reason that the princess was sent away, not for how she was attacked by a man in the woods. They say the kingdom is ruled by an evil queen because she cannot love. The queen loves her daughter, and that is enough for them both.

There lives a prince who is forced to choose a bride at the ball. He meets many beautiful women, but find none which he loves. He spies one in a gorgeous gown and wonder in her eyes, and he dances with her all night long. The kingdom is sure he has found his bride. When the clock strikes midnight he tells her how he will never love a woman, or a man, in the way he is expected to. The beautiful woman smiles and tells him she expects nothing from him. The next morning the prince and the beautiful woman are missing, having run off together to see the world. They leave their shoes behind in their haste.

I find it so interesting how a group of rebels who are so disgusted by the acts of the sundered houses and the way theyve begun to force themselves upon Dol-Makjar/Araman can't seem to understand why Bolaire hates Thjazi so much.

Like their anger is reasonable and justified, but any and every criticism or moment of disgust Bolaire has shown towards Thjazi is shut down, criticized, or dismissed as Thjazi being "difficult to work with sometimes".

Not a single one of them seems to understand that Bolaire's anger is not like Julian's in the way that he hates the man for a difference of opinions. Bolaire was threatened/blackmailed and treated as an object and weapon that Thjazi saw fit to exploit and use at a whim so he desire. Even when Julien "finds" common ground with Bolaire by saying he'll listen to all of Bolaire's stories and complaints, he only sees Bolaire's anger as just disliking him because of who Thjazi was, and not a victim of Thjazi himself.

Of course its not very clear to the party the intricate details of the relationship that Bolaire and Thjazi had, but even in episode 31, where Bolaire quotes Thjazi where Thjazi referred to Bolaire as a "thing/it" and was describing how Thjazi exploited him, everyone's focus was on Bolaire describing himself as a thing/weapon, and not on the fact that Thjazi was the man enforcing these ideas and was the one who set this entire precedent for Bolaire in the first place.

You'd think it would've been a wakeup call for Thimble, but still she defended Thjazi and placed doubt on Bolaire's words, hiding behind the fact that she "didn't really know" what went down between the two of them (which in part is because of Laura's above table knowledge, but the point still stands, given Thimble didn't seemed phased/upset at Thjazi's words towards Bolaire).

Bolaire has made it very clear to everyone that he was exploited and used by Thjazi, and at the end of the day none of them care. For a party so set on convincing Bolaire that he isn't just an object they seem to be pretty set on treating his past experiences like he is one, like he's supposed to just let everything roll off his back and let bygones be bygones like he's not supposed to have any emotional reaction at all.
